Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

I support her right to free speech. She can call me all the names she wants because of who I vote for.

However she doesn’t get to blame the failure of her movie on Racism and all the usual excuses.

When this things bomb maybe she should look in the mirror and realize she is the problem.

Honestly I wish all these actors would shut up about politics. I don’t want to listen to them support either side.

I go to the movies to escape, and I think that was much easier to do when we knew far less about the actors.
None of this has anything to do with what I wrote.

Actually, none of this discussion has anything to do with why I joined the forum, which was to keep the magic of being at WDW alive between trips. I need to do a better job of choosing which conversations to take part in and how to contribute to them, because the last twenty pages or so have been nothing but a depressing exercise in futility (to say nothing of the mess we’ve all created for @The Mom to clear up).

I came to this site because I love Disney and wanted to be among fellow Disney fans. Never in a million years did I imagine I’d be engaging in the kinds of exchanges that might grace the comments section of a Breitbart article. While I stand by everything I have written, this is not the place for any of it, and I’m tired of my part in this unproductive cycle.

What nuance would you like ? She basically told half the country that we are terrible humans. How would you like us to react?
Once again we need to be careful here with this generalization. It is not half the country, its half of the voting public, which is about 20% of the country as was pointed out before. You don't know how the other 60% of the country that didn't vote would feel about it, they may actually agree with her.

However she doesn’t get to blame the failure of her movie on Racism and all the usual excuses.
If the movie doesn't do well there will be all sorts of blame, as that is what people do, they look for reasons why something happened and try to assign blame. And she just like everyone else has a right to assign whatever sort of blame she wants, that is her right just as it is yours or anyone else's.

All I’ll really say on this movie is I think it’s going to be another mundane remake and I think everyone’s going to be incredibly dissapointed in how non-controversial they actually made it. 😂

It’s the fumes of the 2023 banter here that the company has already clearly pivoted from.
I actually agree, I think the movie itself will end up being just as normal as all the other remakes and its only the external factors that people try to assign to it that will be the "controversial" part.

Don’t worry Disney isn’t going to be getting involved in these type of controversies anymore. We are at the end of a dark chapter in company history.

Just in case Iger still didn’t get the message he sure is heck has it now.

Time to turn the page.

Clearly this has nothing to do with the movie but you know this is just silly. This is from a 2020 study.

  • Splitting the vote in 2020. If non-voters all turned out in 2020, non-voter candidate preferences show they would add nearly equal share to Democratic and Republican candidates (33 percent versus 30 percent, respectively), while 18 percent said they would vote for a third party.

I think ignoring reality is what led to a blowout loss. Probably best to stop doing that.

Yikes.

It’s ok that you feel this way though.

Anger is the second step.

Anyways I’m out of this thread. Clearly we can’t have a discussion about a Disney actresses hate filled rhetoric without it turning into a mess.
This thread is supposed to be about what looks like a fairly faithful representation of a sweet story directed toward kids.

I may be alone in this, but I love live-action movies based on Disney fairytales. I’m very much looking forward to the next trailer!

You think you are out and they suck you back in.

Look I understand what your saying but that kinda changes when the lead actresses starts spewing hatred.

Start a new thread to talk about that. This one is supposed to be about the upcoming Snow White movie.
This may be a shock to you but one of the most discussed things about a movie is the actors who are in it.

You cant say the word Terminator without thinking Arnold.

I’m not continuing this back and forth however since you have no interest in intellectually honest conversation.

Do you think that the Hollywood of old was populated by angels?

Actors aren’t role models to be put on a pedestal. They’re just doing a job—albeit a highly specialised and lucrative one. They can only occupy as much of your attention as you’re willing to give them. Some people here would benefit from simply ignoring Zegler.
Remember these folks pretend for a living and some have at best a tenuous grasp of the reality others live.

I’ve not seen him in anything that I recall. I hope he has a prominent romantic role; I adore a good love story.
I do too! I didn’t watch the original Snow White until fairly recently and was surprised by how little screen time was given to the prince.

Maybe that’s why I like live-action; there’s more room for character development.

I think the romance is dealt with quite compellingly in the original—there’s great charm (for me at least) in that absurdly old-fashioned fairytale notion that two young people might fall deeply in love after just one encounter. But yes, I hope the remake fleshes the romantic connection out, in the same way that the live-action Little Mermaid did.

Seriously, people, Disney is a choice, not an obligation. If this film and those involved in it are so objectionable to you, move on.

It’s the last marching order from 2023 we have to get over. This too will burn itself out. The troops have otherwise dissipated.

The whole companies fortunes have dramatically turned around, I’m glad the nonsense is falling away.

I don’t think it is falling away. The threads are infested with it. Everything the company does is now interpreted in politicised terms, with words like “problematic”, “woke”, “triggered”, and “cancelled” being repeatedly and derisively trotted out by aggrieved posters who have no idea what they’re talking about and who seemingly delight in imagining themselves as victims in some ideological war. It’s all so unbelievably contrary to the reasons that brought me (and, I suspect, the vast majority of us) here that it seems utterly surreal when I step back to think about it.

I’ve actually been able to have conversations about viewership and box office and even talk about some shows / movies in the last six months. It’s incredibly refreshing and there are remnants from both camps who stuck around and had these conversations without trying to Trojan horse this back to the politics forum.

It’s noticeable who dispersed, but I think you are also drawn in from the opposite lens way more than I am. You are part of the problem, even if I’m siding with you. It’s a bit obvious who was participating in the politics thread before its closure (I never did) and who actually was in this sub forum before (I was).

This is only my 24th contribution to this erratic thread, I’m ready for this one to also come out and move on. 😂
