Could the so-called "modern audience" come out in droves with massive support for this movie?

There are many that say that today's "modern audience" is a complete mirage. They say it's a mythical group of people that doesn't actually exist in the real world. Companies are chasing after this "modern audience" demographic that is supposed to be super dynamic, influential and loaded with money and power.

Is the "modern audience" real or just typical or common social hype?

Will the "modern audience" carry Snow White to great success?

I don't know but we DO know that some companies are chasing hard after something "they" think is very real.

The modern audience is real, its just a really small audience; not enough tickets purchased at the box office to pay for the movies that are made for them.

Agreed. But it always comes back to budget.

If they could keep the budgets down, they could make the movies they feel the need to make AND make a little money.

I go back to Godzilla Minus One. Cost only about 10 million to make.

We do know that the public vitriol of one of the actresses has expressed will be detrimental to how the public will receive anything she appears in going forward.

A very small number will care; those who had no intention of seeing the film in the first place.

I'd take everything that's being tossed out right now as FUD. The next four years won't be like the next four years. Wait and see.

TWDC will do what it will do.

They will make the movies they want to make. I honestly believe making money is not the priority in "Todays Disney" movie business.

In "Todays Disney" theme park business however, MAKING MONEY IS THE ONLY PRIORITY.

Best move they could make is let this “actress” move on and cancel this film.

I’m not sure how one can lay this at Disney’s feet. They’re not the ones who posted it.

Also, it’s too late to make her move on or cancel anything; the film is basically completed at this point.

You know this film is going to lose massive amounts of money and also be terrible PR for Disney.

I’m sure if they cancel it now it can be a tax write off.

I really don’t think the public at large is nearly as invested in these things as some of the posters here are.

I think it’s safe to say the vast majority don’t follow Disney like we do, but even if it’s only 10% that saw/heard about the controversy that’s about ten million adults.

It’s not nearly as drastic as 75 million but it’s still a sizable chunk of potential ticket sales that may have been lost due to her outspoken views.

Disney can’t be happy about that.

I think you’re also missing the target audience. Sure there are a good number of adult Disney fans but it looks like this film is directed toward young kids.

If my grandkids see the ads and want to see the movie, my kids will take them. It would be an extremely odd decision to deny them based on some adult nonsense.

I don’t think they are happy about it. They like to avoid controversy as much as possible. But I don’t think it’s going to be what makes or breaks this film.

Zeglers comments alone are just a piece of the puzzle, add in the Dinkler comments, the negativity about the leaked 7 dwarfs / 7 friends photo, the delays, the questionable dwarfs CGI, the mostly negative response to the trailer… I can’t think of any positive word of mouth leading up to the release of this film, it’s been one negative after another, with only a couple months left before it hits theaters that doesn’t bode well for the box office.

Totally agree. The over spending alone will be a big reason SW will lose money.

The deciding factor will be whether the film is any good or not. I dislike what’s been revealed of it thus far, but bigger surprises have happened.

100% agree, if they can put out a great finished product and make the $ half billion (or whatever) it’s going to take to turn a profit from this debacle I’ll never badmouth Disney studios again, it would be the greatest recovery ever.

I’m guessing if they can minimize losses to even $100 million they’ll consider it a huge success at this point.

The still do… and as someone who goes to the theater every week… some excellent one as well…. Problem is the masses mostly only care about big budget spectacle

That’s where I disagree. It would have to be a pretty petty parent to deny their kids a movie based on some adult politics the kids don’t even understand.

No but most parents let their values dictate what they will take their families to. Every parent in my circle who has seen this trailer has no plans of taking their children too it.

What was so offensive in the trailer…. I saw it….and it did not show us any beat that was not in the original film
