For what it’s worth, many of the positive assessments here of the Mermaid remake have centred on the new scenes that develop the relationship between Eric and Ariel.
I didn't ask that. I asked if you felt your comments were representative of the consensus opinion of the fanbase. I feel mine are.I don’t think any one of should claim to speak for the fanbase.
I don’t mind the remakes, so I’m afraid you’ll have to count me out of your consensus!I think we all can agree that TWDC should create NEW stories instead of making these live action remakes.
Yeah, but those were prequels. They weren't remakes of the original cartoons.I’ve said dozens of times the only remakes I like are the original stories like Cruella and Maleficent, the scene for scene remakes are boring.
The idea that people want scene for scene remakes is opposite of my experience.
I honestly don’t know. Our own perception of things is seldom objective.I didn't ask that. I asked if you felt your comments were representative of the consensus opinion of the fanbase. I feel mine are.
Do you consider yourself representative of the fanbase?
If we’re limiting it to retelling the same story then I agree, a retelling should be as close to the original as possible.Yeah, but those were prequels. They weren't remakes of the original cartoons.
not to generalize too much, but you would think members of a Disney fan forum would be representative of the Disney fan base, but with the negativity towards Disney here as of late maybe notDo you consider yourself representative of the fanbase?

I know this makes me something of an outlier here, but my feelings are based on my own personal tastes, not corporate politics, budgetary concerns, or grand declinist narratives.
Not an outlier of TWDC! And the best thing, you are aligned with Iger and most that are making movies in TWDC. And they will continue to make films you enjoy. A big win for you I say.I know this makes me something of an outlier here, but my feelings are based on my own personal tastes, not corporate politics, budgetary concerns, or grand declinist narratives.

What are the many aspects? She is correct "It's no longer 1937" and her not being saved by the prince is not edgy or fresh or impactful (princesses not saved by a prince has been done), there are many aspects of this film that are not well thought out and thus far appear, wellll, cheap.
The issue with movies being a Franchise.I'm not angry about them changing Snow White to be more modern, but I just don't understand the point? If you are going to fundamentally change who the character is and tell a completely different story, why even call it Snow White? Why not just make a brand new princess? Calling the movie "Snow White" but having it be Snow White in name only will not bring in new fans, but it will anger the people who are actually fans of Snow White.

Why are people overseas smarter and better than Americans? So why didn't that translate into better box office? Especially overseas, where people are allegedly smarter and better than Americans?
