In February my daughter and I went parasailing by the Contemporary. It was great! Since she was 12 we did it tandem. What a wonderful view! The ride was very smooth too. The people there were very friendly and wanted to make sure that everyone had a great experience. I highly recommend it.
We went to a storytime at the Kodak theater sponsered by AAA. We had to reserve a time since they only have limited seating. Fairy Godmother (they don't tell you which character it will be) read a story, then posed for pictures and autographs. There were only about 20 people there. Another great Disney experience.

Here are 2 of the amazing things we do at WDW.
Something we did this summer was eat at the GF for dinner and we came out as the fireworks from P&PP was starting. The music was piped in and we got the best view from every direction. Fireworks for the P&PP come from every land so you can see it all from GF. It was awesome!!
I also cannot miss seeing the water pageant from the beach of the GF at least once a trip.

To add to the list at the beginning of this thread: There is a hidden Tinkerbell in the rocks near the exit of Big Thunder Mountain.

Got another Animal Kingdom tip, maybe:
If you go to Camp Minnie/Mickey and walk as far back as you can there is a character greeting area. Last year the DW and I were exploring and ran right into Donald, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy all by their lonesome. We got pix galore, I can tell you!!!

We sometimes rent the little water sprite boats at one of the hotels. Those are always fun. We usually get them at WL so that we can drive right up to the magic kingdom and then get lunch at Whispering canyon afterwards. There is also a nice little wlking path from WL to FW. I usually like to walk around hotels that I have never stayed at to see if there is anything interesting there. That is how I found the Garden grove cafe in the swan which is one of the best kept secrets in disney. Perhaps a DVC tour.:wave:
these are all great! we like renting the water sprites too, we usually do it at the polynesian. afterwards, we relax with a drink by the pool! another fun thing we tried for the first time on our last trip was getting the "kitchen sink" at beaches and cream at the beach club. with 7 people working on it, we STILL had trouble finishing it!

Not all all. Pretty much the only thing that you are not allowed to do when you are not a guest at a Disney resort is swim in the pool and sleep in the rooms.

You do not have to stay there to rent boats. They usually run about twenty five dollars for a half an hour. I would recommend doing it either at the poly, GF, contemporary, or WL because you can get the best views of that whole area. :wave:

If you're standing there when they walk through, you might be able to grab a quick pic. Keep in mind that they are on their way to main street, so they have to keep moving. My kids definately enjoyed watching them walk by. The picture taking stations are fun and my kids really loved watching the classic toons.
Main Street Barbershop - for young and old
Very small and tucked between the Fire Station and the entrance to the emporium.
They specialize in "First Haircuts" for little ones. You can get your childs first haircut here...they give you a certificate with the date and childs name, a lock of the hair and Mickey ears that say first haircut on the back.
They cut grown up hair too. Or if you want, you can just get them to style it...a little gel (in colors if you want) and pixie dust glitter.
Last time I took my son for a hair cut, there was a father and son getting cuts. The father had a bald spot on the crown and the stylist drew a Mickey head with purple glitter gel.
It's fun, but be prepared to wait. Only two barber chairs

I totally agree with this. My husband and I did this last January and it was the best extra thing we have ever done.
This year we are doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour at the Magic Kingdom. I have heard a lot of good things about this behind the scenes tour and am really looking forward to it :animwink:

Just back and had an amazing trip doing all the little "extras" around Disney Property....
A big hit this trip was renting boats out on the Seven Seas Lagoon. We rented from the Grand Floridian (and no you don't have to be a guest) and stayed out for an hour, exploring the entire lagoon and bay lake. They can build up some pretty good speed especially on the open waters of Bay Lake. You can also rent pontoon boats from the Marinas as well. Here are some pics....
Next on the list was a trip to the Spa; It was pricey but so worth it! You could take a "ladies only" afternoon and get manicures and pedicures while the boys kept busy else where. As a spa guest you recieve access to the ladies lounge that includes a wirl pool, sauna, and steam room... perfect way to pamper yourself!
On our "Epcot Day" we strolled over to the Boardwalk in the mid afternoon and picked up a snack at the boardwalk bakery and walked over to Fantasia Gardens to play mini golf. It's a very nice walk and the courses are fun! We usually stroll back, grab dinner at one of the Boardwalk TS locations, and make it back in time to catch Illuminations.
Also at Epcot, purchase a World Passport when touring the World Showcase. You need to hit every kidcot station within each country, but they'll give you a neat stamp and usually write your name/small message in their native language. It's a really neat keepsake to look back on and if you make it all the way around, they'll give you a special poster.
A great way to 'log' where you've been is to collect pressed pennies! Most attractions have a kiosk as well as most major areas (resorts, "lands", etc).
I could go on and on and have no problem admitting that we no longer go to Disney for the "parks". There's so much the Disney resort has to offer that many guests overlook. Have fun exploring!

F&W Festival Party
If you happen to be there during Food & Wine Festival time, the Party for the Senses suggestion by OGMickey is an excellent one, as this is an absolute favorite event of mine, however 'Disney inflation' has really kicked in on this one. As I recall, last year it was up to $125 or $135 per person (though I still thought that it was totally 'worth it').

its true, the resorts themselves hold enough extras to keep one occupied. we used to stay at old key west and would take the boat to DTD. now we stay at saratoga springs and can WALK to DTD! im hoping to do more resort explorations when we get there in june!
actually, ill play a short clip of IASW to remind me, it could always be worse, i could be stuck not moving on the ride! at least in traffic, i can abandon my car!
