Line Jumpers/Cutters

I was at EPCOT yesterday and went to ride Test Track. I have a DAS so we were going through the lightning lane. A man and his daughter entered the single rider line and after entering the building, opened the chain rope and entered the lightning lane in front of us. He then got on his phone and bragged to whomever that he was skipping the line and didn't have to pay telling them to do the same. I smirked to myself as I knew that there was another scan checkpoint before entering the car design area. We got to that point and the cast member was looking the other way, so he and his daughter just walked in and acted like they scanned and received a number.

Here is what happened next, which my husband said that I exhibited Karen-like behavior: I reported them to the cast member and told her that they did not scan and cut in line in front of us from the single rider line. The man tried to claim he did not understand English, but I told the CM he was speaking English in the line. They ended up removing them from the line and escorted them out of the building. The CM thanked me.

Would you have done the same or just let it be?

If it was that straightforward, I think you did the right thing. Not sure why your husband would have an issue with reporting it. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if someone is actually jumping line, but that guy did everything but hold up a glowing neon sign saying “Line cutter!” and point it at himself. He loses points for jerky behavior and not being slick at all, lol.

Glad to see this happen.

We have experienced line breaking at Disney on multiple occasions (Toy Story Mania, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, others) and have reported it, but the cast members have never cared one little bit. Guess you found the exception.

I would have done the same thing.
A few years back, we were leaving Epcot at close.
At our bus stop, A large man started complaining that the bus was taking too long.
He tried to get people to side with him, he was very vocal.
His wife was very embarrassed.
He kept saying, “ I’m gonna get something for free for this”.
He would not stop his ranting, even when we were on the bus.
When we arrived at our resort, we followed him to the front desk.
He made a scene, complaint about his bad experience.
After he left, we went to the front desk and explained what really happened.
The CMs thanked us for our side of the story.
The following day, after arriving back to our resort room, there was a knock at the door.
A thank you note and a platter of treats were delivered from the front desk CMs.

You absolutely did the right thing. I wish everyone would. I once saw a family of eight bypass the entire Guardians queue, pushing past everyone and no one stopped them. I yelled at them after they'd passed me. I didn't realize what they were doing until they'd already gone past. They yelled back, "we have reservations!"

I did something similar at Disneyland at the Buzz attraction. Three teenage boys crossed over to the lightning lane from the regular line right behind me. I said something to them and they were just like "whatever lady, what are you going to do about it". Well I knew there was a cast member right around the corner who merges the regular & lightning lane and I told her that the boys behind me didn't have lightning lane and had skipped into it and I gave them a very pointed glare. She asked them to leave the line if they didn't have lightning lane and since they knew they were busted they turned around and left. The cast member thanked me and I was pumped for thwarting their cheating ways.

Changing lives one glare at a time!

I think he was more concerned that it would have caused a scene or the man could have chosen to become confrontational. My husband was ribbing me that I crushed some kid's dream to ride Test Track. I told him, nope, they'll just have to wait in the hour-long line or go single rider.

Single rider is RARELY over 5 mins and if there’s only two of you it’s likely you’ll be in the same car anyways. No need to break the rules… especially because single rider is usually faster because you don’t have to do the long design your car preshow…

I probably wouldn’t approach them, but I’d talk about them infront of them and would report them to a cast member. Too many people that want to fight nowadays. It’s like peoples favorite pastimes now, sadly.

I think his general concern is fair… given the “random rage” incidents that seem to be on the rise in the US, I get it. Saying your behavior was Karen-like is unfair though! “Risk management” is not the same as “Oh that’s a Karen thing to do.”

This past Monday, we were at MK and waiting in line for Pooh. After the Lightning lane and standby merge, I felt a hand on my shoulder. There was a lady with a small child who said she needed to catch up with her family. After she passed me, she was looking around to see if she could find her family but had no luck. After the ride, both of them were in the shop looking at things and but not looking for their family. I don’t know if they were really looking for their family or not but I really wanted to say something.

Yes... Yes...YES!!! Ive called out line jumpers whenever theyve made their way ahead of me. Ive alerted CM's to the fact that they didnt wait in line and had them removed. I dont care if it ruins their day or it upsets them to be called out and removed. They have no right taking a guests spot whose been following the rules and waited patiently in line.
DS hates it when Ive confronted someone because he doesnt want a confrontation but Im not one who sits back and lets someone walk over me. I stand up for whats right. There are many others in line with me who dont speak up, so I'm standing up for me and all the others who are afraid to. Right is right and no one has the right to line jump no matter how priveledged they think they are..

Yes, I've said thing on several occasions to have line cutters removed from line. Almost always from trying to use the Lighting Lane without paying for it. Peter Pan, Space Mountain, Rock n Roller Coaster to name a few.
