News Liki Tikis refurbished

If there is a fab little Disney gem, rave about the Disney difference and the Disney eye for detail
If it is removed, insist it is just a detail and that people must be mad if such insignificant aspects affect their enjoyment. And who notices such tiny stuff anyway?
Except that there's zero evidence that it was permanently removed. Removing something for a refurb isn't anything ANYONE should be complaining about.

Can people give an honest tally of how many actually went in the sprayers?

I’ve seen even less adults there than in Casey Jr’s Spash n Soak.. I’ve seen even less people in them over the years than the number of people in this thread who are apparently having their trips negatively impacted by the absence of the water tikis.

I like the tikis, btw.
The spraying is part of the toddlerfication of the MK, albeit of the small and not even entirely unpalatable kind. I would gladly just have the drumming back though.

But Tiki gods make the atmosphere, the theme, they put the Tiki in Adventureland.

It is possible for AL to slowly evolve over the years, to replace shops, corners, sight with other goodies. An AL without these statues is conceivable.
But the general direction is not one towards better, funner atmosphere. It leans more to removal of two classic gems and adding one modern Disney Store detail.

Once Upon a Time this area was a tropical South Seas paradise:

I’ll wear a toddler badge when running around in the Splash n Soak..;) I think the water features were a great and fun and practical addition.

Ah, if that is what you mean. Yes, temporary is temporary. Work in progress is a good sign, and stuff needs to be down or backstage for a certain amount of time. None of that is a problem. :)

Yeah, I don’t understand the disgruntledness over a temporary removal of a feature that rarely had adults using it anyway. I understand about the enjoyment of the ambiance, but it should not be more than a passing thought in this specific scenario. It’s coming back. I think people tend to/like to over exaggerate.

As long as the removal is temporary for maintenance/repair/upgrade, I don't think anyone has a problem with it...it is when these things disappear and never get returned or replaced....

but as you slowly remove the "other stuff" eventuallythe entire experience is changed...and les and less of the things that made the WDW theme parks special... So, yes, it is just one thing...but they add up...
To be fair what makes (or made) the parks special to you is different from what makes the parks special to others.

I agree with you mostly but I’ve been going since 1973. So what made the parks special to me have been slowly replaced. Many of the new things have won a place in my heart and it’s not all bad. In fact more good then not. But people going from the 90’s on, these are their special things now. The circle of life. :)

Everyone needs deadlines-Walt Disney

So what is the deadline on this project? That's my beef.

This is not the kind of refurb they publicly announce. It's a feature, not an attraction. I'm sure there is an internal deadline but deadlines can be changed as priorities, needs, and funding change. We don't know the scope of the work so it's pretty presumptuous to assume how long it will take. I understand why people are nervous but it's not fair to find Disney guilty for something they might do.

of course...that is why there is more than one flavor of ice cream, but to be fair, what does that have to do with anything? The Disney Difference was always in their detailed design and storytelling... Things you may not be conscious of individually that all work together to create a placesetting environment... As you remove the details, the environment changes...Just a fact... If you didn't appreciate the Leaky Tikis, then you didn't...and then why even comment?

I don't think I ever said I don't appreciate the LT's but point taken.

Heavens to Betsy... should Disney inform us every time they change a flush mechanism on a toilet? And what possible difference would it make if they did. It gets done when it gets done. Those little water cooling stations are not part of any story, just a part of the ambiance, but, not significantly. If they never existed we would still understand the land and its theme.

It still boils its way down to individual perception. What is important to you is not necessarily reflecting the overall public perception. Like I just said above, it is important to you, fine... but, there are lots of things in my life that are important to me that you could not possible care less about. That is what makes people different. The hyperbole reaction similar to the "sky is falling" is way over stated and when they come back or if they come back will not alter the rotation of the earth or the feel of the land to anyone except a few.

I think the boxes being in the exact same spot where the tikis were is a good sign that they will return. They are most likely covering the infrastructure as they get refurbished.

And they've added up a LOT over the years/decades. Really a shame how much has been chipped away.
