Like Competition- Why WDW is better than Universal!!!

I don't get the constant comparison and beating up on Universal. :(

I should be glad you all hate it so much, less people in the parks! (eh, eh?)

Not really. Obsessive fanboys only make up a tiny portion of a park's overall attendance. Disney will likely always have more guests than Universal, but only because of it being a bigger, more established brand name, not because of these people. Neither company even cares what any of us think. Which makes all the cheerleading hilarious.

So then.... is Sea World a Theme park or an amusement park? Is Bush Gardens a theme park or an amusement park? Are water parks just water parks or are they "theme" parks or amusement parks? What would Legoland be considered? Maybe I was wrong in saying that Universal was not a "theme" park, but Universal is a "coaster" park whereas Disney World is a whole other ball of wax.:) PS- Should I put in a cute animal so I get more likes? LOL.:D
I'm thinking you haven't actually been to Uni? I think maybe you've been trusting what you read? a lot of people routinely post things that are simply not true, like it being all coasters, so dirty, nothing for kids, mean staff, etc.

Uni is as well themed (and sometimes better themed) than Disney. It is not a coaster park, like Cedar Point. (Not that I don't love CP, too, but that is an amusement park with a ton of coasters...there is other stuff, too, but the coasters are the main draw.)

Uni is not only as well themed, with a bunch of different kind of rides, it also has things you can't experience anywhere else.

Just like Disney, if you are lucky enough to be able to go there, you totally should.

IMO. Just advice, not criticism! Promise. :)

I hate to see people avoid Disney because "It's all for kids" and I hate to see them avoid Uni because "It's all thrill rides."

ETA:

Theme Parks, like Disney and Uni, have themed lands. In those lands, they have themed rides.

ISea World is a theme park, but it's like an entire park of theme, the theme being Sea. And I truly love Sea World, but it IS different than Disney and Uni. I can never understand why people would say they like the Disney parks, but not the Uni ones. If WDW or Uni bought the other out and owned all the parks, it would all fit.

Sea World is a totally different kind of theme park. It might not be everyone's cup of tea. But I love it.

Exactly! People probably assume they're coaster parks because Dueling Dragons and Hulk (which are very well-themed coasters).

Both parks offer amazing rides and activities for kids. Especially the classic E.T. Adventure, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, SeussLand (AMAZING theming), Jurassic Park's Camp Jurassic, and the very large themed children's area at Universal Studios. There's more too, I just don't feel like naming it all.

And of course Marvel Superhero Island is probably a young or pre-teen boy's dream. That's why hard-core Disney fans want to take that away from Universal.

You can't argue for Universal on these forums. It's impossible... :( I just wish people would enjoy the parks and experience instead of constantly feeling the need to bash Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood... :(

To be fair the whole point of this thread was to list the reasons why WDW is better than Universal Orlando. I havent seen anyone say anything negative about Universal in Hollywood. It's not just people randomly bashing Universal, they were asked to list out their reasons. A few others pointed out already that you could start a whole thread on reasons why Uni is better than WDW. That just wasn't the theme of this particular thread. I have said numerous times on here that I like Universal but I still prefer WDW for the overall experience. Many others on here have said similar things. Your reaction seems to be just to 1 person saying Universal is a coaster park. That's their opinion. Who cares. You shouldn't lose sleep over it. Plenty of people have opinions on here that I disagree with. That's part of the fun of sharing opinions.

This thread only exists because it was created by a compulsive Universal basher. So you're right, it isn't random. It was created specifically with a premeditated anti-Universal agenda in mind. The structure of the thread (fishing for biased answers by asking a biased question) doesn't change that fact. And somehow I doubt you could create a "Why Universal is better than WDW" thread on this forum without being accused of bashing.

Okay well sorry, but it doesn't just happen on here. I just want to feel like people can enjoy both without it being a constant comparison or constantly bringing up reasons Disney is better. Or creating whole threads to bash on Universal. But whatever, I just wanted to stick up for Universal.

I guess we all need to realize that these are just theme parks... :p

Yes, if you started a thread on why Universal is better, you would really get a lot of negative comments.

And you're right... The thread wasn't random. The point of it was to senselessly bash Universal by getting a completely biased response on a WDW website.

Why play along? If that is how you feel you are feeding into it. Most of the responses on here were pretty fair In my opinion (coaster park aside). I don't think it was a lot of Uni bashing, more just pointing out positives of WDW. I think you would be surprised how many people would come out on your side if you started a Uni thread. This place has a pretty even distribution of pixie dusters and doom and gloomers.

Okay, I just was just trying to give my opinion on this obviously biased thread.

Woo-hoo, most fun discussion ever?! :p But if I'm seriously making people mad by supporting Universal, I'll stop.

The whole point of this thread was to try something new, like a "like competition", with a valid topic for discussion. I felt the topic was justified in the Disney World general discussion area of the forum. If the topic is too much to handle or participate in without getting upset, I suggest with complete respect you either stop participating in this discussion and find another one, or ignore me.

Either way, I only want the reader to be happy as I assure you, Iam. Its just a discussion forum about Disney World, we are not splitting the atom.

Jimmy Thick- But chances are, I could figure that out too...

It's just an innocent thread about a theme park. Like 'our sports team is better than yours'. Every sports fan is supossed to be irrationaly biased towards his own, and every sports fan understands the bias of the other team's fans is not agressive, or wrong, but simply them rooting for their team.

Leave us be. You don't need to go to a 'The Yankees are the best', 'the Lakers are the greatest' thread to point out for page after page why their fans are 'incorrect' and why it is disrespectful to other teams to say your team is the best. That's not how it works.

As for the personal insults levelled at Jimmy in this thread: very, very sad.

Not trying to be insulting, but Jimmy, if you really think none of the Universal resorts can compete with the Disney Resorts, you're delusional. The service at the Universal Resorts is multitudes better than at Disney Resorts. Housekeeping is so much better, Disney housekeepers should be forced to train with Universal's housekeepers for a few weeks to see how to do it right.

Never been to Universal so I can't really judge. However, Mickey Mouse has been around since 1928 and Harry Potter since 1997. Other factors enter into this, to be sure, but the Disney mark has a proven staying power. So, why do I not go to Universal? The same reason I always order the minestrone at my favorite Italian restaurant - it makes me feel good.

I like Universal, but I love Disney.

Totally my opinion of course, but Disney has a nostalgia factor that plays to our inner child, something that I don't personally feel at Universal Studios. Universal tries to manufacture this really hard. It makes the right moves, adds the right attractions, but it just can't compete for reasons I don't think any of us can contain in a forum post. Trying to explain the irrational is impossible and that's exactly what we are trying to do in this thread.

I will visit Universal when I'm on a trip to Disney World. Not the other way around.

I'm the exact same way... I'll take a taxi over if my wife or whoever we're with want to go but I wouldn't fly to FL just for Uni.

This is for BryceM I DO enjoy both parks. UNi has some really cool rides. The mummy. Twister, Spider Man, Jurassic Park just to name a few. However there are few moments where they totally immerse me into the environment and sweep me out of reality. They twister queue is cool and does it for me, the mummy queue does as well. Jaws use to a bit. Spider man was ok, Jurassic park does a great job, but when you leave the actual ride things seem to fall apArt. I think it's the size of the park and how everything is on top of one another. UNi doesnt do well with hiding on area from the next like WDW does. Very rarely can I stand in one Area at WDW And see another and if I do they put in attention to detail and make it feel as if I'm supposed to see that for a reason or it adds value to it. The only time I didn't feel this for a length of time was HP area. But Disney has done this since their creation. It feels as if UNi is trying to take an amusement park and turn it into a Theme park whereas Disney just did it right from the beginning. And the Cast Members just are better at Disney. I know most work both. I have friends that worked T both. But hands down Disney cast members go above and beyond. Always smile. Always interact and look happy to be there Nd are always ready to assist. UNI staff always look like a bunch of disgruntled teenagers that aren't happy to be at work. No one has ever done anything Above and beyond for me. Not that it has to happen but I remember it hasn't. And I can say at Disney several times cast members have made it seem they went above and beyond for me and my family. It comes down to two different worlds, run, operated and visited two different ways. Whilei do enjoy both I know hands down WDW is better and I have the receipts to prove it since they get most of my money over UNi.

WDW is greater than Universal because it's flagship park doesn't greet you with multiple beige box-like buildings housing incohesive attractions next to eachother with no thematic accuracy to the "land" they're in. Plus they put mini-golf under a bridge and charge Disney prices for parks only open until 5 or 7pm much of the year. I like IOA though.
