I know your thoughts on this & you know mine on this… i believe altho i still dont agree totally with you i admitted there definitely are some“advantages”. Disney had a chance yet again to prevent this. They didnt probably bc its “illegal” & mostly bc they are not passing up on money…
Disney wants to limit the LLs to people who are paying to access them. That's why they restricted DAS to people who have no other way to deal with lines. Looking at it from other perspectives is likely unproductive.

Food and merch is absolutely feeling the effect of Disney's "golden boy" Lighting Lane.

Folks like to think of Disney as one big company but there are many different departments. The food and merch teams are hating LL because it is taking revenue from them.

This may lead to a further cuts in offerings in food and merch because the is less money to me made so there will be less investments in those areas.

I saw this first hand. During a recent visit to EPCOT, the selection of EPCOT hats was terrible! Maybe I am mis remembering but I seem to remember there used to be A WALL of hats to choose from in Mouse Gear.
100%. Character meals that are traditionally full once again in February were far from it for Presidents week… party of 6 and i was able to adjust switch any day i wanted to better suit the trip and i would say sans 1 dinner at CP (still saw empty tables) places were 20-25% empty

I thought about this and have posted this. Because of the general brokenness of the LL system, the more LLMP, LLSP that are sold, the more there will be a desire to purchase LLPP to avoid the terrible return times of LLMP and LLSP and standby.

This whole LL system albeit totally broken is a HUGE money maker for Disney with no end in sight.

The more broken the LL system becomes, the more money Disney can make!

I don't think pi**ing off 95% of your customers in order to please 5% is a sound long term strategy.

There’s been so much discussion in here over who would actually buy this, and I think we are really overestimating the amount of calculations people bother to do to determine value of something like this. I came across a TikTok of a woman and I believe her father who were down for 24 hours. They park hopped, and for their DHS time purchased LLPP. They didn’t even use it on all the attractions available, skipping 2 major ones because one of the people in their party is not a fan. They stayed at a value resort, so I’m assuming (maybe incorrectly) that they are not a money is no object type of guest.

To most of us here that’s a shocking waste of money, but it clearly facilitated a super quick visit where they hit their priority attractions. I’d be super interested to see if the bulk of the LLPP purchases are time crunched guests, not filthy rich money is no object guests.

Would those “advantages” be: double the access, the ability to be in “2 lines” at once, and clogging down the genius “line accompations” by having more slots taken than the rest of the people in the park?

…cause nothing has really changed on those fronts

I think we’ve exaggerated two things:

1. How much thought people put in before they buy?
2. How many people actually buy?

Both are probably pretty low

Again. We been thru this already. No need to rehash altho i know that is basically what these boards are best known for but to entertain. No not really. The addition of a. 10 minute wait time to get another ride definitely took away an advantage. The removal of 2 pre books as well. The biggest advantage to me still is when im eating at my favorite over priced character meals im able to hold a LL & a DAS simultaneously. Granted everyone can hold a LL as well… also and im record. The re rides which again im on record stating. Disney should do something about.

Ill cut back on a character meal a day maybe to soften the blow
It's the opposite for me, if I'm going to spend, I'd rather enjoy a few nice meals before paying for LLPP (or any skip the lines upsell, ftm). Although I realize that I'm fortunate to be able to visit 3-4 times a year, and still can manage waiting in (reasonable) lines.

I get your point though, to each their own. :)

The character meal comment was a semi inside joke. ;). But agreed. To each is their own

You mean you’d rather have food than old rides you’ve been on 37 times??

…this is why you rule 😎

I think all visitors are making decisions like this no matter how often they visit.

Just because Disney introduced LLPP does not make folks magically be able to pay for everything (that is constantly going up in price) PLUS LLPP.

Folks are making choices.

On the other hand, there are folks who can afford LLPP and do not know it exists and cant get it because its sold out.

I think its worse for folks who are willing to pay for it and cant get it.

Well I guess these folks can always do a VIP tour ;)

Only 37? On an extended trip i can do my favorites ride 37 times during that span
It’s actually been hundreds for most of them

But isn’t that kinda sad? Bragging about riding big thunder mountain? Rides aren’t the point of those parks…it’s the total package/ambience…and the poor capacity management has really put some stink on that
