This is the continued biggest problem of the current system. Genie+ does not have enough capacity, especially in the non-MK parks. They could easily help this problem by just putting the ILL$ rides into the genie+ bucket.
Bingo. I don’t see that changing but it should cause it’s all about the benjamin’s and not guest experience

They kinda did this when they went down to the one ILL per park, but then once Tron opened, they kept SDMT as ILL. Like you mentioned, it’s not really as much of a problem at MK.

I personally don’t really see the problem with RotR, FoP, & Guardians being ILLs in their respective parks. They’re in high demand, and there are also probably people who don’t buy Genie+ and just buy the ILL. It would probably increase Genie+ users if they combined the ILLs. Also I think it’s more flexible to have that one attraction (or two at MK) separate.

The ILLs are so easy to get if staying at a resort and I love them. We scheduled them for when we wanted, worked out great.
ILL work well for certain people. Personally, I don't like them because they feel even more like nickel and diming than G+ does. I can stomach probably up to ~$50 per person on G+, but I also know that the way I use it will skip about 7-15 rides. I only ever bought a single ILL while at DLR (no idea if I'll ever be back) for Webslingers and felt like it was such a poor use of my vacation money because it was poof gone. G+ is at least something I utilize throughout an entire day.

I have also realized I will probably not ride FOP, ROTR, Guardians, Tron, or 7D for a long time because the cost/benefit of those rides just never works out in my head to either spend the ILL money, get up early enough to get at the front of rope drop, or wait more than an hour for any ride.

It's why I think there needs to be a middle ground. Give those who want some planning 1 a day ahead of time. Let everyone else keep it the way it is.

I would bet your average Disney guest prefers Genie+ over FP+. One of the biggest complaints many had is the amount of planning if takes to visit Disney.
It is still the same ball of wax though. (I thought 180 days for dining was pretty crazy.)

We shouldn't have to compete for resources as much as we do.

That is the problem, IMO. It doesn't matter if the timing gun goes off at 7am, or a week in advance or 180 days in advance.

WDW is a competition every step of the way.

If FoP was Genie+ it would run out likely before park opening and you would have people at GR demanding refunds because they couldn't get FoP. With it being ILL - if it's gone for the day you don't have to pay for it.

I don't see the issue there.

Buy a vacation package and get G+ for a locked in price. Don't by a package and you have to deal with the fluctuating price.
This is what we had for our UK package last year. We were unsure on if we'd use G+ but they offered it to us for what I think worked out at around $7 per day per person if we bought it in advance.

May I ask why not? Did you not know you were able to, or did you just not think about it?

We would have 3 in the first 3 hours, try to hit #2 at the end of the 2nd hour and #3 right after, then after tapping into 3, start finding new ones. Getting 7-10 in a day wasn't uncommon. I did not realize that was not the norm.

That's exactly what we always did. I don't think we ever used less than 5 in a day and the most we used was 16 one day at MK just trying to see how many we could do in a day (that included a 4 hour break in the afternoon). We didn't even need the last 5 or so we got but I wanted to run up our total. :D I finally quit at 16 because this was back in the days when you had to book them at a kiosk and I got tired of running to a kiosk to book the next FP when by that time of the night most things only had a 5 minute standby wait time anyway.

When the demand is so high, those who are first are going to get advantage/reservations. Should the person who just shows up at a restaurant be given precedent over those who made reservations? The only answer to that problem would be for Disney to do away with reservations, but that's unwise if they want to make sure all of their restaurants are at capacity.

It's not a competition as much as an optimization.

Weren't there complaints about pre-purchasing Genie+ because it has to be all or nothing with tickets? The other complaint being not all parks had the same value or need. I'd hope for the ability to choose which days without being locked into purchasing for an entire trip.

This is absolutely false. People would complain every single day when FastPasses were gone early in the day, which occurred literally daily with the 60 day system.
People are going to complain no matter what. Even if they give free FP for all with no scheduling needed. I was stating it wasn’t a problem (demanding refunds) until they started charging for LL/ILLs
