Ok but not for a refund on FP when FP was free.
Maybe park tickets or something but my point was people weren’t at guest relations asking for a LL (FP) refund until they started charging for it.

But people DID show up asking for money back or off when they paid for tickets and FPs were all gone. Its no different.

But actually charging for rides after the $140 “ride all day” tickets - lest we forget - tipped the scales from what I hear on the wind.
That is basic human psychology…embed all the fees you want…but when you break them out and require an additional transaction? Look out

Im here now and cant believe how empty it is. There was literally not one person on millenium falcon at 7 pm last night. I havent seen anything like this since the last recession over a decade ago. You do not need genie at any park
It is shocking how the premier name in themed entertainment can so drastically (and repeatedly) bungle understanding their customers.
Can confirm this. I know people who walked on to Rise last night more than an hour before park close.
The afternoon Tron lottery is lasting hours, not seconds. Same with Guardians. Parks are apparently pretty slow right now, from all reports, yet they raise the price of Genie-.
Strange it was so quiet. You think all the school aged children of the world would have treated their mothers to a day at WDW on Mother's Day.

You knows ironic? This is likely more “consumer experimentation” from TDO.
By their own admission - the park reservation calendar - coupled with real time reporting from agents such as Mr. Testa…it’s pretty clear attendance is light and genie isn’t much of a “necessity”
But they know people will buy it…they aren’t incline to watch as we are here…
So they’ll squeeze a nice 15% upcharge through a traditionally crowded time that is not crowded now.
It is smart.
In days past they would push the desk agents to push the product hard too…but advance mobile checkin has taken that “arrow” out of their quiver…

We’ve been - collectively (though many don’t realize it
) - trying to figure out what exactly is happening?The Covid travel “delay” season officially ended on 4/14/23…it seems. It’s rare a hard date hits in travel…but it seems clear that was the end of the backlog.
But there’s more. Disney TAs were warning this 6 months ago.
Airlines have been relatively cheap…as has rental cars.
Lots of rooms available. Lots
Hence discounts at higher frequency/percentage/availability than we have scene in a LONG time
Dvc sales are really, really low…like yikes level…is the rumor?
And then…what is the real problem: the economy is not in position to sustain higher rate of middle class travels now. All the indicators are off…
Guess what Disney feeds on?
So it’s gonna be an interesting year.
The next sign will be DVC annual passes for a huge discount in like august…watch it play.
Fascinating nonetheless. Good time to go.
And then that doesn’t even cover how bad of a spot they are in with Comcast
