Surely that means ILL$, they just removed prepaying for Genie+.

I suppose Disney has a better chance of selling out of ILL$ if they give people more time to think about it without being able to see what the standby queue looks like for the day. It would create another FOMO situation, where everyone is buying up all the available slots well before their park day just in case.

The upside to guests is that you would be able to actually think and plan around your time slot. Right now, we have that frantic minute between 7 am and 7:01 am where everyone is trying to grab anything and everything that they wanted. Everyone walks away from that experience wondering if they did it right, if their ILL$ and LL selection will actually work out for them, and they need to immediately start rearranging their plans around those reservation times.

Not having to schedule rides ahead of time was one of the only redeeming features of the thing. I would rather they go with the DL model and not allow scheduling until you enter the park.

yeah, I was enjoying not having to schedule rides.

Honestly outside of park reservations, we are really doing zero planning for this trip and it's been more relaxing than normal. (I realize with only 2 of us, it's easier for us to do things on the fly)

I agree, though if this means no longer having to wake up before 7am while on vacation, that’s an improvement for me.

It is odd that Disney seems to be in the follow-the-pack mindset, yet this one has eluded them. A sign of larger problems they haven't addressed? 🤔

Undercover Tourist also had the park crowds ranked pretty low for the latter half of October except 10/30 and 10/31. Even those two nights are only ranked at 7/10 and 8/10.

WDW ticket prices are also ranked according to expected crowds, and October is not a high-priced ticket month.

The other forum member used vague terms like "MK was pretty busy" and "Epcot was slammed," because Rat had a 90 minute wait.

IMO, MK almost always appears 'pretty busy.'

October is the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot. It is well established that people come to the park in the PM to eat and drink on the weekends, but that doesn't = a high crowd day, or equate to a high number of people buying Genie+. Epcot can be pretty crazy during the festival. The WS is full of people eating/drinking wandering, but the rest of the park is fairly empty.

Over the many years of reading WDW forums, a common suggestion I've read is to avoid the WS during festival weekends. (I don't mean that last sentence as my personal opinion, but rather a sentiment I have read a great many times.)

Yep. We were at Epcot on 10/19 and it was fairly dead in the park until around 4pm when people started flowing into the park. By around 7pm WS was nuts and it was hard to get around. For the most part I would have to say that Touring Plans probably had it select pretty accurate with their crowd predictors. Most of most of the parks are felt pretty empty or at least not jam packed throughout our entire trip. That's one of the reasons we go in October. We'd go in September for an even slower crowd but my wife can't deal with the love bugs.

Martin.......I read this and thought it was interesting.........Think it is possible they offer resort guests a "3 rides, ride anytime bundle" that can be purchased in advance?

They were mentioned before it rolled out, but I’ve not heard anything recently.

Im still waiting for Bob to see sense and scrap the whole thing. As if.

Well it's no secret that I agree with you.....I think Genie+ has ruined WDW........That being said, if we are stuck with it, maybe they can make some tweaks to improve it

I think being able to purchase a 3 ride bundle in advance with anytime return window would be a good start

If they do that at least one of the rides will be something that is either skippable or doesn’t need G+
