Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I was in EPCOT several weeks ago - my one Disney day out of a lengthy Universal stay. I thought I'd try G+ for the second time after reading this thread. I paid for a ride on Rewind like a good little Disney fan and then started toying with G+.

Nothing worked. Drop times (which I had studiously noted down), constant refresh... nope. It was a complete waste of money - I got nothing out of it.

I'm glad some guests have had success with G+. Even in a best case scenario it seems to involve spending large chunks of time refreshing a screen. But it certainly doesn't reliably, repeatedly improve a trip. It's a gamble, a game of theme park Russian Roulette. And that makes it a miserable product, even if some folks on the internet got lucky.

I prepaid for genie+ for an upcoming trip with my little kids. Definitely overkill for the rides we plan on going on but it's appealing to be able to skip some lines. I am also super pleased to hear that there will be something useful to do with my life at 7AM Eastern/6AM central as my kids have been waking up at 5-5:30 Eastern/4-4:30 Central and I usually just end up spending that time thinking irrationally petty thoughts about how the kids always seem to wake up 30 minutes earlier when it's my turn to get them.

Anyway, without reading through all 905 pages of this thread (which I'll plan on doing anyway)... Is there a good resource/YouTube video that summarizes the stacking strategy in addition to taking advantage of the early resort hours?

Thanks!

@DisDork2002 - our data scientist Becky has a blog and YouTube series on best strategies for G+ in each park. I've posted a link to one article - just click on Becky's name to see the others.

We've finished the coding updates for our touring plan optimizer for G+, too. We're waiting for Apple and Google to approve the app changes. Once those are out, we'll tell you the best G+ reservations to get, and when, for your specific date and list of attractions.

Finally, if you're really intent on getting the most out of Genie+, boarding groups, and ILL, google "Joel BG1" and "Standby Skipper." Two good resources.

And let me know if I can help with anything.

Becky’s “teaches” videos are a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to know about tried & tested strategies for the parks in the Genie age. 😊

And this is why I have a membership 😆. Right now utilizing the availability chart by times. Will any shows be included in the priority?

From what I understand only 2 shows really should be used on G+ are Indy and Lion King. None of the others usually fill up if you get there more than like 20 minutes before show time unless it's the busiest times of the year.

If Fantasmic get's put on G+ that will be a high priority as well!

Strangely the only one DD14 is interested in that she hasn't done is the Conservation Experience. She likes to sketch all the time, so seems like a decent use to secure a slot for her.

Do you or anyone at the site have first hand feedback on Standby Skipper?

If I am booking at LL with Genie+ at 7 AM for the park we are hopping to (Epcot) do I just wait until a time after 2 PM comes up? I am wanting to get Frozen for the evening and then I am hoping and praying at 11 AM there will be something for Remy but I doubt it. The plan would then just grab some LL at MK before we hop over around 3

Yes, to get a LL at the park you are hopping to, you have to keep checking until the time is after 2pm. For the more popular rides, you shouldn’t have to wait too long.

Yeah, it seems to work well. Lmk if there are specific questions!

For the 7am drops did you find the system was good at getting early LL return times? For example if I wanted to target SDD at 10am should I be comfortable that the system would do a better job snagging one over me hounding Genie+ myself?

SDD at 7 is a crapshoot, but you can't really chance it later in the day. I personally think you're much better off with MMRR G+ at 7 and you rope drop SDD then head to ToT unless MFSR is still low. If SDD is a must do or you aren't able to do the early bus for on site guests, then grab that for whatever time you can
