Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

That's the problem the parks will never have enough capacity in our lifetime with how slow they like to build things. Universal is going to have a new park done and opened in the same amount to time it took to build Tron.

Some people consider it a perk. What people are showing right now is perks aren't needed. They are filling the resorts with out them. When that changes they will offer discounts to entice people back.
That's changing as we speak........

The current situation is the exception, not the rule

This is all irregular due to the pandemic and the offshoots of it

Maybe so. I just don't see a day when FP+ comes back as a perk. They like the money it's making so it's never going to be free again.

Oh yeah I agree 100%.........that was my post earlier........free line skip is gone forever...........Park Pass is here to stay

But lets get something that works

Even WDW is not immune to the economy........People know when they are getting taken advantage of..........

Lets put it this way, if these changes were made and we never had a pandemic, they would be rethinking their strategy

I agree, EEH is a significant deluxe resort perk. You're basically guaranteed a 90s era EMH for both MK and EPCOT on your trip. It's really a wonderful experience. IMHO, I think this is just the beginning of resort class based perks.
So, already a second class citizen since we're staying at a moderate resort this trip.

The family is gearing up to rope drop instead of staying up late. But, they are unhappy about it.

Did you read the last part. This is probably just the beginning of resort class based perks. Those who stay at the Motel 6(all stars) are going to love it.

I disagree. They looked at how MaxPass was working at DL. Over there not everyone bought it. Disney figured it would be the same at WDW. Instead it backfired.
Then Disney is staffed by fools. They gave Genie an enormous PR push and made it clear that without it, your little princesse’s magical vacation would be ruined. Plus, the composition of the guest crowd at DL is wildly different - many are locals looking to hang out, folks who visit the parks nearly every weekend. WDW is now, by design, a do-or-die commando destination.

I remember posters here guaranteeing me up and down that Genie would only be purchased by a small group of guests. It was always transparent nonsense. WDW knew all this, of course. They just don’t care. They’re fully aware that line-skipping systems don’t improve the park experience for the vast majority of guests, they just offer the illusion of doing so. That illusion and the Genie profits are all that matter. So they’ll shift some elements to allow a larger percentage of guests to fool themselves into thinking they are benefitting and keep raking in the money.

It's definitely a perk - just might not be valuable to you or to many, but it is a perk, and one aimed at getting people to stay deluxe during the week

Some people never used DME, doesn't mean it wasn't an included perk.
Do you really think people are saying hey im gonna be able to go to MK for an extra 2 hours and Epcot for 2 hours book deluxe for 6 nights spend an extra 3k

Any that you specifically know are being contemplated?

We are going for a short trip in December and one reason we booked deluxe (normally we do Moderate or off site) is we will be there through Tuesday so would have extra hours at Epcot on Monday (assuming the dates stay)

Not the only reason but it definitely factored in and impacted that we are doing Fri to Tuesday instead of Thurs to Monday
