Let's Discuss Anti-Disney "freaks"

There are SO many people who just don't get it. They go to Disney and had a horrible time and they just cannot for the life of them understand why on earth you are going again for oh, say the 15th time. Which leads to the inevitable incredulous question "You're going to Disney AGAIN?!" at which point you just want to scream and the idea of chocking said person enters your mind. But you quickly squash all feelings of wrath because YES you ARE going to Disney again, far, far away from this miserable assclown in front of you.

One of the said assclowns? My stepmother. Actually, my Dad, stepmother, stepbrother and brother. All of whom made the extremely WISE decision to take their first trip to our beloved mouse in early August. (No, I was not consulted on this insanity). When we told them that we were getting married in Disney next October, we were assaulted with "WHY?!" and how badly it sucked. Lines are too long, it's too hot, things are too expensive, IT RAINS EVERYDAY, the list was endless. These people "just don't get it". They don't know what a fastpass is, they don't know that no, it does not rain everyday in October, it actually is quite nice and not too hot. They don't know the beauty of taking a break by the pool. No, these people are park commandos who try to do one park in one day and end up running themselves into the ground waiting in every single long like because why? "They just don't get it".

Now in planning a wedding, I've been on the Knot planning boards a lot. There are tons of nice people there who just want to talk weddings. And as a bride, that's pretty much all I really want to talk about right now anyhow so it's right up my alley. I came across people who have called me names for having a Disney wedding, saying we are too immature to be married if our wedding is in Disney. Again, they "just don't get it". They don't realize there's a separate wedding pavilion, or that we met there doing the College Program in 1999 and it's significant to us. All they think of when they think Disney is kid stuff, the dumbo ride, meeting characters. Hell, they think Mickey will be walking me down the aisle (though a great idea, Mickey will not be making an appearance during the festivities).

Which leads me to the reason for my rant today. Someone actually posted "Anyone else not into Disney?" to which over 20+ people replied as to why their kids will never go feed the corporate giant that is the Disney Co. and why they hope "to God" that they never have to set foot in Disney World in their lifetime.

Well, for the rest of us sane people in the world who can embrace our inner child, know that Disney is one of the most romantic places on earth to vacation, know the tricks, don't wait in long lines, don't auction their first born to afford their vacation, for those of us with common sense and a sense of humor, let us come together and THANK GOD THESE PEOPLE KEEP THEIR MISERABLE SELVES AT HOME. Good riddance, more turkey legs and frunch juice for the rest of us!!

Take a deep breath and count to 10..... I agree there are alot of people who don't get it, especially in my family, but I don't call my family assclowns. :)

You're right... I rather prefer asshats. Thanks! And maybe the boys aren't... but the stepmother, yeah, she's the king, she rules over asshat land.

I've never heard a Disney operator sign off with "Have a magical day, assclown."

Shouldn't Disney lovers be less...rabidly vicious? :lookaroun

Assclown and Asshat = funny words that are commonly used on tv. Much better IMHO than loser or a swearword. Which I guess they technically are, but I think they're funny swearwords. Not rabid or vicious. Just telling it like it is. Trust me, these anti disney freaks are calling you and I far worse for being disney lovers! A little defending of the mouse is in order sometimes.

AND... I think I'd p e e myself if a disney op ended the conversation with "Have a Magical Day, Assclown." I'm sure there have been many occasions when they have wanted to say just that!

:D Wow.
Nice thread :p
yes yes..I know how the feeling is being around Un-Disney people. Sucks don't it?...

Now my boyfriend (yes, I think he's turning into one of those Un-Disneyians  I'll have to change that) is asking "Don't you get tired of going there? What's so good about it?" Blah blah blah... I'd like to call him an assclown myself!! Haha, just kidding- I do love him but I'll have to put the Disney back in him. :)

To avoid the inevitable "You're going AGAIN??!?", my wife and I usually just say "We're going to Florida" and leave it at that unless prodded further.

Yes, many do not "get it." Whether or not you feel ridiculed by their ignorance really depends on how secure you are in your appreciation of Disney.

I don't get that much flak anymore from my relatives, because they know I've done many "hardcore" amusement parks, but keep going back to WDW for the theming and "magic."

Perhaps...but that's when I space out and start thinking about riding HM.

(Actually, I had a few friends who gave me some grief in college over my Disney affection...They were, however, rather jealous when I left campus for 6 months to live in Orlando and work at WDW.) :D

Me too. The CP for 4 months (6, lucky!!) and then two weeklong vacations during the school year! They were jealous b/c it was always when there was snow in Boston

I just keep singing Wishes in my head over and over, 35 more days!

I hate when people complain that Disneyworld is "too expensive". Yet every year people come down here to the Jersey shore and pay easily twice as much for a week at a sub-par boardwalk.

I won't even get into the amount of money you can waste in 5 minutes at an arcade!

As a recently married knottie, AND a disney freak:sohappy: , i must say that it's sad to see the reception you got on the boards. The only reason why we didn't do Disney for a wedding was because most of the people i would want there wouldn't be able to come down for financial and scheduling reasons. I'm jealous of you and your fairytale wedding! Don't let those non-Disney people frustrate you too much. When the knot boards get vicious, I come on here and breathe a sigh of relief...

Good luck on your wedding planning!

Yes I know how you all feel. I have tons of teen friends (especally guys) who won't let off there Disney trashing. I've gotten everything from "O you're gay cause you like disney world" to " disney world thats where babys go for vacation" It gets annoying but I have plenty of friends I have turned into Disney lovers...it works both ways. Most of the people who trash it either have no imagination and are utterly boring or they are just a bunch of "too cool" grumps.

You poor thing... I feel really bad that people are giving you such a hard time. Here you are planning the most important day of your life and people are making negative comments.

Just know that regardless of where or when your wedding would be someone would have something to say about it. Weddings make you realize who your real friends and family are - they can really bring out the true ugliness in people. Sorry being very honest there...

Concentrate on your soon to be husband and yourself right now. This wedding is about the two of you. Not your family, your friends, where your having it, what's for dinner, who's sitting where, blah, blah, blah. What's important is that you are happy and you make the day the best it can be for YOU. You will remember this day for the rest of your life.

Disney is a magical place - unfortunately not everyone can feel the magic we all do. And you know what, you should feel sorry for those people... They are missing out.

I'm so jealous btw - a fairytale wedding - wow! That's just awesome. Be excited - you are doing something that millions of people all over the world would love to be able to do. There's more Disney fans than there are haters out there.

I agree with you.....

There are some people that will think with their head, not with their heart, when it comes to Disney. The entire thing is undescribible and you definitely get a lot of flack for it. But here's the thing and it's what I've told my family and friends, if you care about me and like me, then you'll learn to respect my feelings about it and if they ever wanted to go, they should take heed on what I say about it because they will have a much better time, almost like a personalized tour.

Being a Disney fanatic is something I'm proud of and I'll never care what those "assclowns" say about it either! LOL!

These are not words that are used in polite conversation and, to maintain the integrity of this message board, they should not be used here. Whatever words one might want to say to someone, it is the ability to refrain from such outbursts that identify you as an thinking adult. I congratulate you on your upcoming wedding. This might be a good time to start speaking like a woman and not an upset little girl.

This, after all, is a Disney fan website. We are better than the language you used.
