Or maybe some Ritalin.

Zoloft might help. I like the commercials with the little blob that
starts out sad and ends up happy at the end. I think I will go
take one right now. Anyone else want one?

I guess I just laugh it off. I mean, anyone that I associate with knows me and knows I enjoy it, so they wouldn't ever give me grief for something that gives me such pleasure. Anyone else...well, I guess I just don't care.

I found it humorous in the original post to read about the OP's family - I know someone who did the exact same thing. Two sisters - late 20's, early 30's - took an unplanned trip to WDW. They paid rack rate at the Contemporary, IN AUGUST, slept until noon every day, and didn't make any PS's whatsoever. What did they come back saying? "It's hot, it's too expensive...we couldn't find anything to eat that wasn't fast food, we waited in huge lines the whole time...what's a fastpass?"

LOL. I feel bad for such people, in a way - but like I feel bad about someone who does something stupid and pays the price (like some recent news stories on TV that just will not go away...). I'm sorry they have to go through what they do, but when you don't plan or do stupid things - well, sympathy only goes so far.

Personally, I enjoy WDW, and could give a fig if I am the only one - as others have said, hey, more space for me when I'm there!

Actually Zoloft would make things worse at time (I know, I took it for about 5 years....) I have heard that Welbutrin is pretty good though.....

The way I see it, *everybody* is a freak about something.

Sports, Star Wars, politics, X-Files, gardening, hip-hop, tattoos, motorcycles, beanie babies.

We just happen to be freaks about Disney World. As such, I don't think it's appropriate to ridicule non-fans, or get upset if they do not "convert." At the same time, if a Disney fan wants to celebrate the happiest day of their life (their wedding) at Disney, no one has the right to look upon them with scorn, either.

I knew from the moment I typed my "rant" about non-disney lovers, that my tounge in cheek humor and sarcasm would go over a few of your heads. All I was basically saying was:

1. My wedding is not your wedding. I don't make fun of people for their wedding ideas. I think it's quite ridiculous and childish that they make fun of mine.

2. Some members of my family belong to the group of disney naysayers. Calling them asshats, RELAX IT WAS A JOKE. Do I ever call anyone an asshat in real life, of course not! (to their face...)

3. If you don't like Disney, that's cool, but please do stay home, and stop making fun of those that do like Disney. That, to me, is childish and rude.

If I had written a post like that, it would have been BORING.

To those of you who say I need ritalin, therapy, etc. Well, I don't think I have to tell you that you are rude. But I will tell you that you are an ASSHAT! In all seriousness. And THAT my friends is the reason the word was created. For ignorant people such as yourselves who insult others for no reason whatsoever. TYAGN.

For everyone else who "got it" thanks! I like hearing your personal stories as well! And we are looking forward to sharing our favorite place on earth with our closest family and friends and starting our beginning "at the beginning"!! And who knows, maybe we can convert a few of the naysayers! :)

First off- there will always be someone telling you that your wedding isn't "good" trust me.....No matter what you do or where you have it, someone will say something against it. That's just the way it is- no, it's not nice or right, but calling them names like- well, like you said (I won't reapeat it because I honestly don't like those kind of words)- isn't nice or right either.

I am not saying you are a horrible person or that you are wrong to be a little upset- what I am saying is that if this is how you act because a couple of people are telling you that your wedding ideas are dumb you obviously have a hard time dealing with critizism of any kind. Just my observation though....

Aurora,

I'm not upset at all. I'm not even irritated. I just find it humorous that people care to make nasty comments and I thought I'd see if others have people say nasty things to them regarding their love of Disney.

I got an onslaught of insults for using a term that I use in a funny way, not in an insulting way. It means doofus. It doesn't mean a*hole as people are taking it to mean. If you have seen it used on TV on shows like the OC or the movie Office Space (one of my favorites) or other pop culture television shows, you will see that's how it is used there as well. It's not as strong a term as all of you seem to think it is. So RELAX people!

The original post was just written for a little tounge in cheek humor! Apparently many of you don't get sarcasm. Geesh!

I'm sorry, I guess I just don't find the type of sarcasm insulting someone's mental state funny. More so malicious. I wasn't insulting any of you when I came on here, I was pointing out something that went on in my life and wanted to see if anyone related.

First off- I don't watch the OC and even if I did, I still would not find that comment nice....It is too close to other things and can be taken (very easily) out of context. Obviously I am just not "knowlegable" enough to know that it really means "doofus".....although to me, if you say it the way you typed it- I think most people would think it was the other term. But then again, that's me.

As for not getting sarcasm- honestly, sometimes it is hard on the interent to "hear" the sarcasim that you are meaning to portray. Again- that is just my feeling of it.

I agree with you 100%. It's hard to read sarcasm sometimes. But yes, I mean it as to say doofus, goon, annoyance, etc.

These words were found on the Fox tv show "The OC" and for further evidence, you can rent Office Space tonight to see use of the term "assclown". If I want to get around using swear words all I need to do is type in a swearword with spaces, I really don't need to make up terms. And I wouldn't dare take credit for coining either of these.

And I am not annoyed at people who didn't get my sarcasm, I just don't think that disagreeing with a poster gives anyone the right to insult the poster's mental state. I think that's a different ballgame altogether and it's just downright mean. If you want to "maintain the integrity" of these boards, then that is just as ignorant as using the terms I used, if not more so since I wasn't insulting anyone on these boards.

I'm not a prude or anything, but I'd like to be able to come to these forums w/o seeing words like "asshat" or "assclown" thank you very much.

So you "know" what these words mean even though they don't say "dufus" right after the word?? I have watched office space and I have to say that honestly, that is not the meaning I got from that word.....Just because you think it means that, doesn't mean that is what it really is....

I think I've defended myself enough. I like the words, I think they are funny. I was using them to be funny. You don't find them funny. There's nothing I can do to fix that. I don't like that I was insulted, but there's nothing you can do to fix that either. Guess we just have to agree to disagree and move on.

To say "But they said in on The OC!!! It makes it okay!!!" is terribly offbase.

People have also overdosed on drugs on The OC. Does that make overdosing okay? DOES IT?!?

I find those words to be funny in other contexts (such as a movie like Office Space) just not here.

I don't like that you were insulted either, but there's nothing that can be done to fix it. Unfortunately, I can understand the harsh reaction your original post received. It's a pretty harsh rant for what we are used to on these boards.

I debated responding to this thread at all, because I didn't want to get caught in the middle of something. But I did think it was appropriate to politely ask you to change the way you expressed yourself in future posts. I think you'll get a much warmer reception around here if you refrain from this sort of thing.

Hope that helps.

Oh my! I never said that because they say it on the OC it makes it ok. I love that you are twisting my words to get more people to become annoyed at me. Fabulous.

I simply stated that I got the words from the OC and Office Space. I did not make them up on my own.
