Less-popular restaurants worth checking out?

Since this thread is active again, I can follow up on my comment back in post #34.

I did try Biergarten back in March, and thought it was fantastic! The entertainment was great, the family we were seated with was shy (which probably suited antisocial DH just fine), and the food was scrumptious!!

Does it have to be in a park?

Raglan Road wins my vote hands down -- especially if your with a group of adults. It's about as Irish and Irish gets...

Ironically, it won last year's "Kid friendly" award or something (which is odd, since it very much caters to adults)...

I'll add Kimonos at the Swan. Easy to walk in, open late for dinner, great atmosphere, and far and away the most authentic Japanese food in WDW. The sushi and tempura are mouth watering.

The now closed Spoodles was a favorite of mine for this.

In terms of restaurants still open, I'll go with the Grand Floridian Cafe, where I've never had an issue getting in, and always enjoyed the food and service.

If you're looking for big portions, then Olivia's is a good, easy to get into choice.

Nine Dragons in Epcot.

One day this past trip I had scheduled my self for Epcot the first half of the day and DHS the second half of the day. By the afternoon I had no desire to leave EPCOT so I wondered over to GS to see if any ADRs were available for anything that night so I wouldn't have to go to DHS. All that they had open was Nine Dragons so I took it. I have always stayed away from them because it is Chinese food which I always eat at home. It was such a pleasant surpirse!! It turned out to be my favorite meal of the trip! Great service, very organized and prompt. Tasty food. They aslo had a blackberry icetea that was sooooo good. I think I drank like 4 glasses!:slurp: The restaruant also had such a lovely ambiance. It was very nicely decorated.

I found out two years ago that the Cookes of Dublin, attached / next to Raglan Road, is quite tasty. I've had fish and chips before, tons of times, but not how the English do it. I stumbled upon the place two years ago during my first visit to WDW in 14 years. I am going to make an effort to visit there again this December on my next trip.

I'd have to vote for Trail's End. Just had dinner there the other day and everything was SO good. The fried chicken, peel and eat shrimp, mashed potatoes, and corn bread was to die for. I'm just kicking myself for not saving enough room for some cobbler with ice cream...curse you delicious food :zipit:

I like Earl of Sandwich in DTD and Whispering Canyon Cafe in WL. Whispering Canyon is overlooked because I think it ought to be classified as a "show" as well and the food is incredible!!!!:slurp:
