I bet they could place them in the parking lot to protect the pillars.

...and not sure what all the whining is about...don't like it? just walk by
Now, this logic doesn't make any sense. I don't particularly like LaL, but I don't hate it as much as many.

That said, the chief complaint is that it ruins the entryway, making for ugly sight lines and clutters the path without any interesting features (anyone else who hates it can expand on this, please).

Now, if that's their problem, that it ruins the entrance to Epcot, how does "just walk past it" make it better? Walking past doesn't give them a beautiful Epcot entry way, and that's the problem.

Saying "just walk past it" is like if I spill coke on your steak and tell you "if you don't like coke steak, just don't eat it."

If you like it, that's cool. It's a subjective thing. It is way, way down on the list of things I'd change about WDW. But "just walk past it" doesn't solve the problem for those who do.

I purchased 6 tiles between October and December 1999 and was specifically told that the display would be up for at least 25 years. I remember telling everyone I bought one for (my family) that they could come back before 2024 to see them. I do not know about all the legal mumbo jumbo as I do not recall getting a copy of the contract I signed, but 25 years is what I was told and that was 25 years from 1999, NOT 25 years from when the stopped selling them. I think they original plan was a set time frame and the longer you waited the shorter time your tile would be on display.

The contract stated Disney could move the tiles anywhere they want on Disney property for any reason. The example I always use is that Disney could move the stones to the fairway of one of the golf courses, or put them in the parking lot somewhere. Alternatively, they could take the tiles and put them on the wall somewhere else in the entire resort.

Mmmmm, Coke steak. Two, please.

But seriously, my issue with them isn't just that they look like tombstones, but they aren't even full! They still look like a half-finished project, and they have for years. It's embarrassing.

Behind them, the majesty of Spaceship Earth. At least that got finished....

That photo of it as a new cemetery in front of the new mansion area is hilarious!!!

Thanks! :king:

All this hype (or hope) over a paintjob.

Actually all of the legs and supports (including the walls) of SSE are being freshly painted this week as well as a bunch of other buildings. Mostly prep for F&G Festival which should start slowly loading in this weekend.

Last year the monorail beams were cleaned. This year it's a nice paint job I guess.

Oh, thats good to hear. I noticed last visit that the SSE walls were looking a little dirty. Who knows...maybe we'll see Innoventions pull a Universe of Energy and have it return to a more classic and neutral color sheme.

Ok since this topic is so far off topic...go figure!!!! I thought I would add my bit about the fountain out front. Someone either tell me I am nuts or back me up on this one, but I remember part of the talk for the Millennium Celebration was to put a AA of Father Time that would come up out of the fountain and do something....I want to said it had something to do with Tapestry of Nations????

Someone please help me with this random memory in my head!!!!

Yes they were. I think 10 years is the number thats been tossed around. Not sure on the MK bricks, but I imagine there was a similar arrangement.

I'd like to add that as great as seeing the brown stripes disappearing is, I doubt its an indication that Leave a Legacy will be making its final legacy any time soon.

My husband and I have one (flame all you want, I DON'T CARE!!). We were told at least 20 years.

All I know is that I enjoy the fact that my wife and I have a tile, and my mom and dad have a tile. I really couldn't give a crap if some random family from Jersey doesn't look at our tiles. I do, and they are a great tangible, physical reminder of great trips my family took to WDW. Plus, I really enjoy the fact that I'm always in Epcot, from a certain point of view.
