Leave a Legacy at Epcot

How do you feel about Leave a Legacy at EPCOT Center?

  • Keep it! It's interesting to see all the names and dates and to look for ours.

  • Plus it! Add some trees or something. It's nice, but far too barren and unwelcoming.

  • Scrap it! Tombstones belong at the Haunted Mansion, not EPCOT Center.

20 years???? Wow. We were only guaranteed 10 years for our brick at Disneyland. It was a wedding gift from my coworkers, and I love it. Unfortunately, since my father died (he lived in Orange, CA - that's why they decided to put it in DL instead of WDW), we don't get out to Cali anymore. It was in front of the N when CALIFORNIA was spelled out in the entrance to DCA. Haven't been since before they redid the entrance, so I don't even know if it's still in the same spot. I would really love for them to offer the bricks again so I could get one for WDW. It's really cool to look for and find your name there!! Makes you feel like a piece of you is always there! :D

I may be biased but as me and my sister are on there from 12 years ago I like it just where it is, it's a bit of a ritual finding our photos every time we go.

Wow, another thing I had no idea about! I keep missing things at Epcot! Just got back from my 4th trip and I had no idea about this.

We do the same thing. My now, 24 yr old son's pic is on there. He was 10 when he had the pic taken. When we had it done, it was with the intent of his kid's seeing it some day. Well.... there goes that idea!!!
Same with us. We make sure we write down the coordinates and take them with us in order to find the right area to look. We saw the paving bricks fading out so quickly and thought these would last longer.

They don't have to be completely eliminated...just move them out of the way from in front of Epcot.

They could be placed between Future World and World Showcase, and arranged in the same design.

Plus the fountain behind them would provide for a nice view.

i voted to keep it and re-do the area. maybe somehow incorporate them into a sidewalk like the pavers at MK? they are kind of obstructive, but at the same time they are memories for many families :)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Or how about a giant interacive themed queue for SSE??? lol Featuring a spot where you can chhose your own narration. Irons, Cronkite, Dench.
Exactly in that order - Irons, Cronkite ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Dench

I'm actually rather indifferent about them. Though they do look like some sort of war memorial and from far away, the carvings look like some alien language (I think that's kind cool actually XD)

War Memorials belong in Washington....not Disney World.
Yes, but in Washinbgton D.C. a tourist is not presently allowed to get in, while at WDW tourists are forced to walk past this monstrosity. I think that TDO should shut down their monuments, or something.

Pave this area next to The Land and put them there permanently.

Well upon review I beleive they need to stay. I have a family memeber who passed away at 41 due to cancer and he has a memorial there from the family and a seperate one from his doctors who knew how much he loved WDW. Also I happen to know a few people who placed memorials to loved ones killed during the 9-11 attacks here again because thye loved Disney. Im not saying they need to stay in current incarnation but to tear down and completely remove these would be awful. I agree that since the majority of these went unsold and it looks empty maybe Consolidate them and place it somewhere else?

Does anyone know of any plans to do another permanent leave a memory kind of thing at WDW somewhere (like the Epcot stone pictures or the MK pathway stones)?

We didn't get a chance to participate in the past.

I don't think people are griping about the memorials themselves. It's the presentation. It has closed down and closed off a large entrance space into the park. It looks like a graveyard.

If there was a different approach to the presentation, I don't think it'd be so bad. However, it is what it is.... so all we can do it deal.
