Ladies - Do you wear skirts/dresses at WDW?

(I suppose this can go for men too! haha ;))

When you wear a dress or skirt, do you wear any kind of shorts under them? Do you have any issues on rides? I love skirts...but they usually come just about to my knee's, maybe a bit higher. Im kind of worried what a ride might do to them....lol But they seem so much cooler then the alternative!! haha

So, do you wear them? Do you wear shorts under them?

I wear dresses during our visits to the World. I feel much cooler. I will agree with some other posters, Space Mountain can be a challenge. DH is aware of my troubles and does his best to assist while I try not to flash anyone behind me.

When wearing a dress full bloomers are a must!;)

I don't think I've ever had a problem with skirts or dresses, but the ones I choose are a little longer than what everyone else on the thread has mentioned. I tend to go for knee or tea-length dresses. I'm pretty tall, so short dresses can look obscene on me.

I just thought of this now. If you have a Target near by, they usually carry running skirts. They are skirts with the shorts underneath. The material is moisture-wicking, so that's a plus. I have a few and I take them with me when I go to WDW. They are very comfortable and you've got a built-in modesty protector.

That's a great idea! I wear running shorts a lot while we are in WDW and like the skirt version, they dry quickly and are lightweight. I usually wear a skirt or dress for the evenings we aren't running from ride to ride. :)

The last couple of trips I have worn 100% cotton sundresses while at the parks, knee length. I was very comfortable and much cooler than in shorts and a top. I don't do space mountain, so flashing has not been a problem. However, I made myself what I call "tap pants" they are like shorts but made out of slip material with a stretch lace around the leg to keep them from riding up. Very light and comfortable and they eliminate "chafing issues" ;) on the inner thigh. Like has been previously mentioned, sitting "lady like is a must".

Its time like this that I am so incredibly thankful that I am a guy and don't have to worry about making a fashion statement. I love you ladies, and my wife for that matter, and pity you for the struggles that you go through in your daily lives. :p

I love to wear light summer dresses to the parks. I do wear bike shorts most days....just in case. I think with just some basic self awareness, wearing a dress is a wonderful, light, comfortable park option.

I love dresses, and pretty much wear them daily at home. In Disney though, I stick to shorts/capri's & tees/tanks for the parks. I have to be honest, I tend to wear fairly short dresses & I'd just be worried about it all day! I do wear them to DTD no problem though. One of my friends wears dresses every single day into the park, and she has no problems. :)

Since becoming a mommy, my dresses have gotten longer. So maybe I'll have to give it a shot on my next trip!

As everyone is saying, Space Mountain does seem to be the only awkward one to get out of, but as long as you are aware of it when you're stepping up and just holding the skirt in the right spot to hide everything, you should be ok.
I always have the problem with the "Marilyn Monroe" issue with even the slightest of breezes, you just can't test out that factor when you try dresses out in the no-breeze fitting rooms and for some reason every skirt/dress made nowadays is super lightweight! Because of this I always make sure I'm either wearing a dress/skirt that wont do this, or I wear a pair of Spanx black control shorts underneath. It helps in 2 ways, smooths me out and keeps me modest if my dress should catch a breeze! It just gives you that extra peace of mind!
Here's a link to a variety of the length I use on the site http://www.spanx.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3010055&cp=2992553

I always wear shorts or capri pants to WDW.
But, if I did, I probably would wear some thin shorts underneath.

I wear skirts to WDW, but I always wear hot pants underneath. And not like the provocative lady frilly/rhinestone/undie type you can get at some places but the more uh conservative dancewear types.(if thats even possible, lol!) Anyway they're a bit longer and they do the job of protecting the view and dont ride up uncomfortably like some other shorts would.
Im pretty sure men in kilts might need another form of coverage other than hotpants though!
