Lack of Charging stations in Disneyland.

And that is only a couple actions which requires you to use your phone for a max of a 15-20 minutes per day. Hardly battery draining actions. Heck even throw in there some wait time checking of attractions and you're still not into true battery draining activity.

Once again I'm 100% in favor of Disney adding charging ports around DLR. I just know they aren't going to do it any time soon. So instead of yelling into the void I bring a battery pack to use as needed if my phone gets too low to be able to use it.

My point is random tourist from Canada does not know that they’re going to need their phone all day. We people who talk about Disneyland for fun online of course know.

That is like five people on any given day at Disneyland. If they are tourists, they should know to charge their phone in their room the night before. You got to give people credit for being smart and prepared. If there were charging stations everywhere, they would become home base for youtube vloggers. The tourist from Canada would never be able to use them anyway.

I never thought people would be against the idea! I find that fascinating.

Charging stations are like the new pay phones, they are a convenience that at some point some people will need.

By the way… I feel old now but I remember calling my mom from a pay phone off of Main Street at the magic kingdom! Haha.

Isn’t this the same logic that argues people should have known they should have made dining reservations 60 days ago if they actually wanted a table service meal?

You are still completely ignoring the idea of ‘do we want to help our customers?’

I’d say closer to five thousand. Even if it’s one person a day getting screwed over by Disneys insistence on making phone use mandatory, I think that’s one too many, but screw the hard working tourists right? They should have done extensive research on how to enter a theme park.

So Disney needs to provide assigned charging locations to five thousand people out of nineteen million guests each year who can't remember to charge their phones or buy a phone with a two day battery?

That's dumb.

And you make it seem like that random tourist from Canada has never used the internet or doesn’t know how a phone requires charging. It doesn’t require a lot of in-depth knowledge of Disneyland, it’s simple travel requirements.

Not to mention as has been said now many times Disneyland has 14 kiosks for Fuelrods all around the resort for those that forget to bring a battery pack.

I think everyone here agrees that it would be nice if Disneyland offered free charging locations around the parks. All we’re saying is that just a tiny bit of planning (bring your own) or using what is available (Fuelrods) makes this pretty much a non issue.

Nobody's ignoring the idea, they're just ignoring you. Charging stations aren't the hyperbolic death of Disney that you are trying to make it out to be. Would the convenience of charging stations be a nice addition? Sure, but so would heated toilet seats, but it doesn't exactly turn the tipping point on Disney's customer service.

How many people use the first aid stations a day?
The mothers rooms?

Are they dumb too?
Strawman. Providing medical needs and phone charging aren't even on the same level.

Not strawman. They are real world examples disney does by choice as a customer service and are not under any obligation to do and people can bring their own alternatives. And are only used by a tiny fraction of guests.

Yet… disney does offer these services … why is one dumb to do due to low volume but another isn’t?

Actually its not the same thing, First Aid falls under a theme/amusement parks "duty of care" responsibility. They are required to offer First Aid services in case of minor accidents. Now Disney Parks First Aid may go above and beyond the standard First Aid services a regional amusement park might offer, but its because they are much bigger and have many thousands of more guests daily and I'm sure to document things for legal purposes. But the reality its there in the first place is because they actually are required to have it, so yes they are obligated to do so.

A phone charging station free or otherwise is not required under the same "duty of care". Disney is not under any obligation to offer such services.

I don’t think it is. Again I go back to my Grandparents. If they decided to visit Disneyland they would not think to bring extra phone battery. There’s a good chance they wouldn’t even bring their phone.

I think Disneyland should be catering to all. At present it does not.

They are not required to provide that kind of aid, nor mother rooms. They could easily point you to an EMT and meet their first aid needs. Instead they provide far beyond, including for far lower standards of need. Their duty of care is to prevent injury - not treat it.

But why has disney offered baby food, mother services, free aid? Customer service.

Look we're going around in circles here. Everyone here pretty much agrees that it would be nice if Disneyland offered things like free device charging. Its not available so other alternatives must be used, its as simple at that.

Although in 2023 if someone traveling from another country isn't bringing some type of battery pack for their devices is just asking for trouble. Especially since you can't be sure your device chargers are going to work here in the US.

Also your grandparents are lucky they have you. That way you can tell them they need to bring a phone for at least entry into the park and best bring a battery pack. Beyond that I don't know what else to tell you. 🤷‍♂️

You might want to double check on that my friend.

I'll let some of our resident current and former CMs like @Californian Elitist comment on Disney's requirements for First Aid.

I remember my time back in the 90s working at a local amusement park here in CA that we received some basic first aid/emergency training as part of our operations training, so they pretty much all have some type of first aid. So seem like its much more than just simple "customer service".

Also I could be wrong but I believe Disneyland has some EMTs or nurses on staff, obviously WDW has a whole unit.

Also as has been said now many times by many posters pretty much all of us here agree it would be nice if Disney offered free device charging services. I would even go as far as to say that all of us would be very happy if they did offered it. But we just know they aren't going to until it benefits them in some way. So at this point I'm not even sure what your point here is, we all agree. Some just offer other suggestions.

To be honest, at WDW when they first launched NextGen/MDX I saw a lot of people using the few charging stations there were, Storybook Circus, Tangled Restrooms, those charging lockers they used to have, etc. But I would say more and more today I see people with portable chargers, most people don’t want to be tied down to one spot to charge their devices while on a Disney vacation. I think adding charging to Quick-Service locations like they did at Connections @ Epcot would be the best move going forward. Allows people to recharge their devices while eating.

You are correct. Theme/amusement parks are required by law to offer first aid. First aid absolutely falls under duty of care. It’s not customer service. Customer service would be offering guests popcorn or a churro for free for minor inconveniences.

Disneyland does have nurses on staff. It looks like an actual hospital in there.
