Lack of Charging stations in Disneyland.

There are two reasons Disney really won't offer free charging today
1 - It would undercut the deal they have with Fuelrod
2 - It would cost them significant money to build out and maintain those charging ports
I would agree with 2 adding -

There isn't likely enough of a demand for the huge cost of build out given DLRs consumer base is made up of a large locals population and not primarily tourists. Compare that to WDW where they offer it at Magic Kingdom, its consumer base is different made up of mostly tourist rather than locals.

There may be a day where DLR offers free charging stations, but until then either bring your own or use FuelRods.

BTW, Disney was looking at wireless charging rooms as few years ago, so its not like they aren't looking into other options -

The ‘option’ sucks and is below normal hospitality standards. A concept disney used to excel at

That's the key to this problem.

In the 2020's, phone charging is now a hospitality concept. You need to offer that to your customers if your business model keeps your customers on your property for many hours at a time, like an airport or hotel or seat on a train. Put aside the TDA mandate that you use the Disneyland App on your phone to navigate and use their product now. Just pretend it's just about phone charging so you can take pictures and tell the time and call the kids to see if they're still in Frontierland. Even that basic need of 99% of tourists at Disneyland is not being met.

Then layer on the near-requirement that you use their proprietary App to access their product during your stay to eat, or go on rides, or gain park information. But they don't have phone charging available for you, unless you buy a Fuelrod for $33.32.

TDA Exec in 2023 To A Customer With a Dying Phone Battery: Why didn't you bring a power bank of your own, or buy a better phone?!? You knew you were going to Disneyland, and you didn't prepare! That's not our fault, peasant! You bought your tickets, you knew what you were getting yourself in to! We say, let 'em crash!

P.S. I love that it's a 707 with Turbojet engines, but it sounds like an old DC-3 with piston powered propellers! A brilliant movie.

When did charging stations become a right? Who wants to be tethered to a plug for hours while you are at Disneyland? Why is it the park's responsibility to keep your phone charged? You should know your phone sucks and either buy a new one or bring a battery pack. Why is that Disney's responsivity to keep your phone working?

"Oh Disneyland makes you use their app which sucks power." Guess what so does all the social media crap your running all day in lines. Someone needs to sue Instagram for killing our phone's battery. Entitlement much?

I don't need to use Instagram when I'm at Disneyland, but I do need to use the Disneyland app when at Disneyland.

If Disney is going to require the Disneyland app in the parks for food service and other necessities, then yes, they should provide free charging stations, and I say this as somebody who has a portable charging pack that I use on all of my travels.

So you are telling me that having only the Disneyland app open all day drains your phone to zero within a few hours? Either your phone is compromised or you have something seriously wrong with it and should consider a new one.

In reality, most people are too busy on social media all day at Disneyland and that is what is draining their battery.

When I went to Disneyland last year I was there an hour before opening and left about 45 minutes before closing in part because my iPhone 13's battery was in the red. During that day I didn't use social media at all (never would at a theme park) I just took a few pictures, had the Disney Play app running in the background to collect those little ride badges and was constantly using the Disneyland app to check wait times, mobile order, and do the Genie+/fastpass thing, and of course because it was sunny California my screen brightness was almost always on maximum so I could see it. Making it easier to charge up isn't "a right" but it seems like common sense in a place where you want people spending a lot of time.

More to the point I can't see why anyone who doesn't have to pay/install them would be upset about a few extra power ports and wireless charging pads? It's like seeing some shade and saying "I'm not hot?!"

Disney still provides you the option to go completely analog if you wish. Sure its a pain and you may miss out on some things, but it can be done.

I don’t think anyone is necessarily against charging ports. Some of us are saying come prepared with your own portable chargers until they decided to install ports at the parks.

Yep, I'm 100% for them adding charging ports into DLR. I just know they see no benefit to adding them at this point so I bring my own and know FuelRods are available if needed.

Exactly. I don’t see a point in waiting for Disney. Bring your own and charge your devices on the go. And this is not to say that folks shouldn’t bring these concerns to Disney. They absolutely should. In the meantime, though…

You can't even enter the park without using a computer to make a park reservation. There is no completely analog option.

You have to use your phone to enter the park and receive discounts and use reservations. (For magic key at least).

I'm talking about once you enter the parks. You can be off your phone all day if you chose to. And as I said you may miss out on some things like discounts and reservations, but it can be done. And how do I know, because I've done within the last year. Once I had my ticket scanned from the app to get into DL I put my phone away and did everything without the app. As I said its a pain, but it can be done.
