Being that the restaurant is at the boardwalk, I believe it should be themed to that. Breakfast is breakfast, just with a little more flair, fresh fruit toppings, different types of sausage and bacon, a little bit more upscale. As for Lunch and dinner, it should be seafood related with a splattering of funnel cakes, fries, and hot dogs. All of high quality of course. Is that not what is at a boardwalk?

It USED to be like that, but then the cuts came and one of the places turned into a Margarita bar.

We were there right around Christmas, when the entire resort was very busy. Amazingly, we walked right in, got a table for 4, and the place wasn't nearly as crowded as most other nice restaurants on property. The waiter even said something along the lines of things being slow.

I loved the place. I took my wife there for her birthday in November 2012, and again we were rather surprised at how easy it was to get into compared to the other high end places on property. Oh well, another favorite place gone. Hopefully something great replaces it. Mario Battali? Micheal Szyman? Any other Iron Chef?

I think the bus idea is a great one.

From a resort standpoint, the entire Epcot Resort Area is very short on counter service options. You pretty much have the Beach Club Marketplace and Hurricane Hanna's as your only counter service options for the Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk Villas. Perhaps they could develop a new, elevated counter service concept. Similar to what Landscapes of Flavor did for food courts in WDW.

Other than that, a good/affordable/Disney original table service would be great.

I doubt a signature will go in with Flying Fish Cafe, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Il Mulino, Shula's and Bluezoo all within walking distance. Plus, Le Cellier and Monsieur Paul are close bye too.

I really hope it's not Joe's Crab Shack, Bubba Gump Shrimp, etc. That would be just awful. I go to WDW to escape the realities of the real world, not to eat at a place that you can find off of any exit in America.

This would be a great idea - but there is no place to get a sit-down breakfast anyplace else on the Boardwalk.
Not everyone wants to walk over to the Beach Club side for a breakfast. The Inn only offers a continental breakfast. World Showcase opens rather late for a breakfast and there is no place there to get one.

Might I suggest a Belgian Waffle stand on the Boardwalk?

Any combination of the words 'Belgium' + 'any foodstuff' is good!

So wish there would be a WS Belgium. With your waffle cart! And mussles in a TS restaurant! And fries in a CS Frietkot! :hungry:

The entire rest of WS would be put out of business in one fell swoop, bankrupted, despairing before the might of Belgium.

We should get some investors and open something in DTD. Eventually we could expand and take back the E.L.

Wow I'm tempted too! We could totally win this!

The reconquista of WDW to begin with mussles from Brussels. Who'd have thought. We shall open our restaurant in DTD's Planet Hollywood, by buying the near bankrupt PH chain from its co-founder, the Muscles from Brussels. By 2018 we'll have dinner in the Empress Room, overseeing our plans for the hunt for the last princess in WDW and the opening of New Horizons.

I will call my accountants tomorrow. I am sure others will want in too.

well that didn't last long...

I often wonder about the boardwalk. I wonder if many even know it exists...

It's only thanks to this board that I found out about it and visited for the first time last year.

This is the biggest thing.

If it had it's own separate parking lot i'd probably end up there a lot more than I do, there's so much water in that area though they can't really do anything (or at least anything that would be financially worth it).

The Boardwalk itself is really the resort area as it is though, so an influx of DTD-style traffic would be pretty unwelcome to those staying there.

Doesn't it have one? I am sure I found one to park in, granted it wasn't huge, was quite full and not a very easy walk to the Boardwalk but I did find something.

Starbucks is coffee...not a dining experience. Recognizable chain restaurants just don't belong at a Disney Resort... Joes Crab Shack?, Bubba Gump? Why not Red Lobster and put an Olive Garden in the italy Pavilion... Chains are just bad for Disney Branding...
again, Coffee is fine... but not dining.

Lol love it, add Panda Expess to China, Taco Bell to Mexico. No seriously, I agree. I would be happy to see all dining chains removed from Disney. The offering should be something that's unique.....not something offered nationally/globally in 100+ locations.

That's the first time I've heard that about Mythos...I've been dining there since before IOA opened for previews and always had an excellent meal and a good, varied menu.
Then I probably made a lot of your meals over the years. I was on the culinary team for almost 6 years, starting a few months after it opened.

Most of the staff had culinary degrees or had extensive experience, and we were encouraged to be creative w/ specials and the "Of the Days" (Risotto, Wrap, Pizza). We had our own junior team competing in the FL Restaurant show. And then we started getting the accolades.

Still with all that creativity and passion going into creating unique offerings, you want to know the #1 seller day in and day out? The burger or Chicken Sandwich.

While there are still a few mainstays on the menu, overall it's smaller, has as many sandwiches as entrees and looks more like a TGI Friday's (or Confisco's for that matter) than it ever did during my tenure. I'm guessing they finally gave up and decided to give their customers more of what they wanted.

one quick thing: why is everyone so obsessed with putting a seafood restaurant there? the flying fish is right next door and the blue zoo is a 2 minute walk away.

Ah, understood....well thanks for making meals as they've always been excellent.

It is difficult to make a successful theme park restaurant with unique, "high end" cuisine even if the prices aren't high end.
