Kingdom Keepers!

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with the book series Kingdom Keepers. If not it is a fiction novel series about the Disney World Parks. I just started reading the books and am up to the 13th Chapter.

My question is, has anyone else noticed how much movie potential this book has for disney???? I mean they already have the set built :p It has an exciting and interesting story and is family friendly with a nice amount of action. It could also be a reason for Disney to use hand drawn animation again to represent the characters!

So it would be a movie based on a book, set in a world famous park, uses hand drawn animation mixed with live acting and is family friendly. This movie would break box office records! I just hope disney realise this and do it!

I've heard about this book series for the past couple of years but have never gotten around the reading them... maybe I will! I mean, why the heck not? It's got to be good if it involves Disney stuff in it. :p

I completed the first one and enjoyed it. Still working on the second one for 2 months now and I don't like the second one much. I has potential to make a film and it may a few years down the line.

The movie that Jon favreau is working on for Disney is set in Disneyland and seems a lot similar to kingdom keepers. The park comes alive after dark I think with a family trapped inside, like a night at the museum but in a theme park, but I've read the first book and I think its a film would work better in wdw purely because there are 4 parks in which to set each film. A franchise that would be identifiable with WDW.

I have read all of the books and I am a big fan of the series. Yes, I know it is aimed for the middle school pack, but hey what can I say it is about Disney. I actually have an copy of book IV, Power Play autographed by Ridley Pearson. They are good books but a couple of them can get a little dry. You have to just stick with them because they always get better. I am working on Shell Game the fifth installment. It takes place on a Disney Cruise ship. The sixth installment is due to be released in April of 2013, Dark Passage and the author has promised a book 7. He says after book 7 he is developing something else. There is a FB page petitioning for a movie. I hope if they do turn them into movies they keep it really EXCITING! This author is has other adult novels that are really great.

I've readt them and really liked where they were going especially Book 1-3 Book 4 however was kind of disappointing and not very creative and drawn out. I definately would change a few things in the books however. But if your looking for a quick read and like Disney, go for it.

My dd has all of them and loves them. She has commented on them being a good movie idea. She even has her grandma reading them now.

I had thought about reading these books for a long time. I had the first book sitting around but never opened it up. Recently I decided to read it and enjoyed it. The setting is WDW so that makes them fun. I have been buying the next book in the series as soon as I finish one up. I am now reading the 4th book and am glad I decided to give them a try. They bring you back to WDW and that is always welcome to me.

Love these books, I've read them all and I'm currently reading shell game. I've always thought they would make great movies, but I think they would be good as a cgi motion capture movie. Either way, hope a movie comes to fruitation one day.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I was just reading synopsises (that's a word now) and was kinda' disappointed that they reference (from what I can tell) character performers.
I mean, the book can say whatever they want, but I just wouldn't expect Disney to sell something in the parks that refers to them as costumed cast members.
Of course, I do tend to take that subject much more seriously than others.

I have read the first 3 books - I love them! It's funny that you mention this, I thought the same thing when I was reading the first book. They would make awesome Disney movies. I even went to imdb to see if one was in the works, because I was sure Disney would be on top of this! I wouldn't be surprised if we see a movie series in the works at some point.

I doubt a film version would ever be made, given how much backstage access would be requiredd. A good portion of the first book is set in the utilidoors.

As for the character performers thing, the books make very clear the difference between the performers and the real characters. Important plot points revolve around there being real villains in addition to the character performers. I'm not explaining it very well but the premise is that there is in fact a very real, very evil Maleficent who is trying to take over the parks. In addition to her, there are cast members that play her.

I tried to get through the first one, but the pre-teen romance made me uncomfortable. Maybe I'll have to give it another try.

I agree .... the book is very clear on the villians and the CMs. There is no confusion. I don't want to give anything away but let's just say the "temperature" changes when the villians come around.

As for the backstage access .... they would build a set rather then film on location. Filming on location is only ideal if they it allows room for all of the studio equippment needed. I can't see it being feasible for a utilidoors shot. I have a friend who is a electrician/lighting guy for motion pictures. He usually works on all the Tyler Perry movies. Name in the credits and everything... It is really interesting to see hear how certain shots are film.

I remember years ago when I was at Uni they had Alfred Hitchcok: The Art of Making Movies. This attraction showed how they used a rotating scene stage to film the different angles of the shower scene in phsycho. It was pretty cool.

I know they'd build a set, but my point was that Disney is notoriously protective of the utilidoors, having only ever released thatt one official photo from down there. I just don't see them allowing a good position of a film to be set down there, even if it was on a recreated set.

Who says it has to be "just like" the real utilidors? It's a moot point if they are not looking at them for a movie anyway. I did sign the peition.... not that I put much stock into petitions.
