Kingdom Keepers!

I have to say, I read them a while ago and I was not impressed.

The really are not that good a story. Very bland, no real character development, and an awfully thin plot. Not to mention the extensive use of VMK, which Disney killed long ago and has no intentions of resurrecting.

Are the fun to read - sure, and the fact they are based in WDW appeals to a large audience. I think, in fact, that is what sells them. Set them in any other venue and the first book would have been the only one written.

They are children's books. For a kid, the first one wasn't terrible. It's no "From the Mixed-Up Files...", but it's a fine children's book.

Some adults happen to enjoy the series, but it was never intended as great literature.

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with the book series Kingdom Keepers. If not it is a fiction novel series about the Disney World Parks. I just started reading the books and am up to the 13th Chapter.

My question is, has anyone else noticed how much movie potential this book has for disney???? I mean they already have the set built :p It has an exciting and interesting story and is family friendly with a nice amount of action. It could also be a reason for Disney to use hand drawn animation again to represent the characters!

So it would be a movie based on a book, set in a world famous park, uses hand drawn animation mixed with live acting and is family friendly. This movie would break box office records! I just hope disney realise this and do it!

Yes, my son and I have read the series and love them! A must for a true Disney fan. The author says there is no talk about a movie but you never know. The author was recently at WDW to promote the "Kingdom Keepers" youth group classes that WDW offers.

We are hoping that Disney brings the class to Disneyland!

I am reading the first book an glad to know that I can read on a youth level. It was a slow to start but when the Dragon malfunctioned I was hooked! I have never read for recreation. Well some stuff I read for the "articles" but I have actually chosen this book over video games for after work recreation, for now.

I read the first book in the Kingdom Keeper series, and feel no desire to read the others. I thought the book utterly lacked any kind of Disney magic. And the modus operandi was so lame: Holograms? Yeesh. I was bored to death. I'm not crazy about the Peter Pan/Starcatcher books either. I just finished reading "The Bridge to Neverland" and was struck with how colorless and bland the central characters are. I had a very hard time caring about what was happening to them. "Peter and the Sword of Mercy" was lackluster too. Now, maybe a good script, appealing actors and great special effects could turn a sow's ear into a silk purse...that is, make a mediocre book into a good movie...but how often does that happen? Usually it's the other way around...

Who says it has to be "just like" the real utilidors? It's a moot point if they are not looking at them for a movie anyway. I did sign the peition.... not that I put much stock into petitions.

Some petitions work out! I signed the "Make the Hobbit film happen" petition in 2004. :p

Sorry, back on track now. DISNEY!!! :D
