Where's all the angst? :veryconfu

I just don't understand how you can take a 'Community of Tomorrow' seriously when its starring Nemo and friends. I guess I just wish they would preserve its original intentions. Im all for new attractions and entertainment to bring people into the park, but shouldnt they keep a strict guideline for theming? And this isnt to knock Figment and Dreamfinder either, they somehow fit perfectly into the original theming of the park with their JII pavillion...I wouldnt mind seeing them around the parks more with Space Mickey and co.

Oh well, I look forward to reading some Kim Possible experiences and how the 'kimmunicator' works.

Didn't you just say that you were WORRIED about introduction of characters / LOST ALL HOPE? Sounds like angst to me.

Simply stated... it's not a 'community'... it's a theme park that's puts on a show. You sometimes need "characters" for that show. The idea of the "community" didn't work out and last as they had hoped. They quickly figured out that if Epcot was going to survive, it had to get back to the basics of entertaining guests or the guests would not come back.

Hopefully, Nemo & friends will entertain guests and we'll actually see some crowds flowing into TLS. We've already seen a significant improvement just from Turtle Talk with Crush. Maybe this Kim Possible game will fit right in just like Figment. You don't know yet that it won't... ;)

Shouldn't we be worried that introducing all these character...

Good points, and if thats what it takes for them to make their money, then so be it. I guess I'm just part of the small group that liked the original tech/innovation driven Epcot. Not to say that it's not still showcasing cool innovative things, but like you said its moving over towards more of an entertainment driven angle.

Right on, I always liked The Living Seas and the pre-ride movie was my favorite! But if Nemo is what it takes to bring more people into the park, then good for them. Like I said earlier, I wasn't knocking the Kim Possible game, I wouldn't mind being picked for it and trying out. I look forward to reviews and pictures in the near future.

I don't want characters -- except Figment?

I like the idea of finally interacting the other side of the pond for something kid friendly. Entering from the left, there are 2 rides, then nothing. As kids, we always started in Canada, knowing when we finally made it through WS the reward would be the Mexico ride, and later Norway. Coloring masks is very "keep em busy" and doesn't exactly fill the 3-4 hours of entertainment necessary to keep kids occupied while touring the WS. Necessary stops were Ice Cream and Churros when I was younger because it was such a bust for kids. Not much has changed. Something like this could definatly turn EPCOT into a 2 day park where it wasn't before. That now means another day for the vacation, which means more $$$. Sorry if KP hurts anybodys feelings about how boring a theme park should be, but there is nothing but ++++++++ in my score card. Does a Segue belong in WS? What does that have to do with experiencing different cultures. Nothing. At least this will. Couldn't ask for a better international figure in the Disney Rolodex than KP. Really, who else?

No, you shouldn't. :p

Turtle Talk is already showcasing cool innovative things in an entertaining and, I have to say from my visit, educational manner. Having the seacabs back as clammobiles with Nemo & Friends has the same potential.

We already know that this game will be "around world showcase" so I would hypothesize that it will include information about the different countries. During the game, the participants will discover and learn about the world they live in. If so, then I just can't see how that's far from what some want at Epcot, but they are doing it in a fashion that kids will embrace.

Seems like this is a great idea to me and I'm also looking forward to getting some first hand reports.

If your hypothesis is correct, then I can agree this is an attraction that will fit into Epcot and emcompass everything it stands for. Innovation, educational, and just pretty darn cool. (for lack of a better term)

Now if only I can see this 'kimmunicator' device...

I'm still holding off on judgment with the Imagination thing, but it seems that is just temporary housing. I still agree that the International Gateway would have made more sense.

And Boardwalk Joe's, there are many people that don't like the so-called "character invasion." Numbers are up, and puting the marketable characters everywhere is certainly a valid business decision/model. However, there are many people (and, no, not just myself) that don't like the decision. It's just a trade-off. Disney is definitely becoming much more of a kids-focused resort overall, perhaps by choice and perhaps by mere chance. So, with that in mind, take the character decision as you will. It's a new generation of Disney, and that means everyone can decide whether they like it more, less, or the same.

Though Kim Possible might eventually have dying popularity, now knowing the facts and not just rumors, this temporary, and potential popular experience does seem in the whole EPCOT (notice the spelling) experience. Her gizmos and other crazy spy/hip stuff would stuff allow kids to get the EPCOT experience and like wannabe@dis said going around world showcase.\

Whether it be temporary or not we must remember that overall many of these things are just current trends. I highly doubt nemo will ever become as classic of a character as the princesses we all know....atleast I hope so :lookaroun

I think that the technology used in the sea cabs could easily be used for whatever new character or experience that may become popular down the road.

You're right. It's really a shame that some can't just look forward to something different at the most magical place on earth. They would rather throw a tantrum and kill the magic... just like a little child that didn't get their sucker. *shakes head*

We agreed on something.. Oh no.. End of the world LOL...
But you are right.. The minute Disney annpounces something new or a change somewhere, people complain.. Then the details come out, the show or attraction opens, and everyone sings its praises (SGE excluded).....

Nemo to me seems somehow to "in its spot, and too modern" *obviously*, like toy story was huge back then, and had its own parade at MGM, nemo somehow seems like that, and that it is somehow not in that "nitch" to be classic. That somehow down the road another temporary and character relevant to the living seas could take nemo's spot :hammer:

Gotcha... but do you think maybe the "classic" characters could have been seen in the same light when their respective movies came out?

Finding Nemo seems to have all the characteristics of some of the old classics that endured them to so many people. Also, if the classic characters had not been added to the Disney parks... would they actually be classics now?

I'm glad this can finally be talked about. This is a fantastic game, and you'll love how it integrates into the park. The environment in WSC fits perfectly for a mystery/detective adventure. It really is a fantastic game, with a bunch of really neat effects integrated into France and the UK that you would never notice unless you participated.

If you do get a chance to play, please post what you thought, but try to refrain from giving anything away! :)

Shouldn't we be worried that introducing all these character elements to Epcot will take away from its original intentions as a 'Prototype Community'? Or have we lost all hope for that?

Not knocking the Kim Possible thing, my niece loves the show so I'm sure she'll be excited to participate. Though with the success of Cars, I'm starting to worry what Test Track will look like in a year...

i think someone else has said this because i read it on this forum but epcot + celebration = consolation prize. We have epcot the theme park which is a bold original idea that will probably never be imitated or tried again. but we have celebration that tries to be what walt wanted for epcot.

This idea sounds really cool! I'd love to participate in it. Is there an age limit for those who don't have kids?

This must have been something that they were talking about 1 to 2 years ago, because I remember reading on here that said that Disney was going to try to have more interactive things in the parks. I know they said something about Kim calling your cell phone. So this must be what they were talking about in late 2004 or early 2005.
They kept their word.
