I think it is the baby boomers that have screwed up the economy this go round... We get our turn over the next 20 years, we'll have to see just how badly we do.

We're probably doing that now by not over spending like our parents did.

Ok...so I'm bitter. When you go 8 years out of college in a job you hate with a passion, you would be too. I quit my job otherwise you would see me on TV going insane at work.

Honestly it started with the baby boomers and their rebellious attitude toward society, their sense of entitlement, personal independence and so on and so forth and then they had kids, who had kids, who passed on the same sense of entitlement and personal enjoyment to the detriment of others.

It will take society coming back together and seeing we are all in this together, and not every child deserves a trophy just for participating and sometimes you have to suck it up and just do the right thing and show up for work and be part of society.

I personally hope this economy is teaching alot of people a very rough lesson in life.

I completely changed career directions four years out of college, best decision I ever made.

Exactly! That big ipad screen is bright and quite large if you put it nearly in front of the person's face behind you. People just HAVE to get their very own video, no matter how terrible. They miss the whole show, annoy everyone around them, and have a shaky, dim, and poor quality video they'll never watch again.

This is why I think that Disney has developed the "Glow with the Show" concept. It "hides" the sea of viewfinders, whether from cameras, phones, tablets or whatever other devices that have screens.

As for this whole thread, I know CMs can't police the entire WDW, but at that time of night, there are still photopass people in the hub taking pictures aren't there? If not, where were the CMs? I know they're doing crowd control, but something like that is inexcusable.

There are no more manners. Especially when on vacation. Well, for some. Too many people try for that "perfect" vacation and will do anything and EVERYTHING to get it. Hence, people climbing up to the statues and whatnot. It seems there is a "be damned if there are "rules" to follow, I'm on vacation, I don't heed to the rules, I paid too much money to come here to be held to the rules." mantra with people.

My catch phrase for all of this is: Stuff like this is the reason we can't have nice things. Period.

Interesting theory.

Its all about respect, respect for others, respect for property, people have a mentality, I paid for this trip I'm entitled to trash, break or take a piece of anything I see and ruin the day, evening, or anyone else's trip for my personal enjoyment.

People need to get over themselves and learn how to behave and loose this sense of entitlement about everything.

If the parks weren't getting trashed by a guests they might actually give us something nice for nice change.

BINGO!

People complain about there being no magical moments anymore. Well, when the CMs see people acting the way they do, esp if it's these "entitled" folk, well, there's no reason to do anything magical.

Those CMs do magical moments at THEIR discretion. If you're actually following rules and such, being kind and respectful, you're not guaranteed a magical moment, but you're chances surely increase with that in mind.

The "adult" is using an iPad to take a picture. I'm not surprised that they think this is ok.
and on another note... what is up with everyone using gigantic ipads to record there Disney trip... I mean there are regular cameras that can insta share to facebook... even your smart phone (cellular turned off for those out of country travelers) that can do this.. to be honest the pictures out of phones and pads are not that great anyways...

I've noticed an increase in tablet usage in the parks, whether it be an iPad or other tablet. Don't understand why. They don't take great pictures/video, are fragile, can't download the Disney app to them, etc. I bring my tablet, but not for the parks - for watching Netflix and other streaming sites and reading a book during downtime in our room. I don't need to lug another piece of electronic equipment in my backpack. My digital camera takes great pictures and better video than any tablet does. And my phone holds our schedule and allows me to check the wait times through the app, make/cancel dining reservations, change FP+ selections. And both are much easier to carry around. Somehow I think the "take your tablet into the parks" has become a status thing.

I agree that it's stupid, but more than that it's rude. People hold those things up with no regard for the people behind them whose view they are blocking. "Hey look at me I have an iPad I'm awesome!" Meanwhile I'm stuck with their giant screen blocking my view. I have a tablet and numerous devices too and sometimes I travel with a tripod for photos. But I'm always conscientious of those around me. They paid a lot for their vacation too and I'm not going to ruin it for them.

Man, you guys are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ahead of me in terms of electronics. My wife is the gadget, computer, and electronic geek in the family. Me, I have zero interest in catching up to 2014. Yes, I have a cell phone for calling, a camera for taking pics, a video camera for movies, and a laptop for internet fun but I have such a hard time moving ahead even when I am told that I can have ALL of those things in one. I do think that electronic gadgets are a great tool in some cases, however they get abused and that is a whole new thing.

While I have a smartphone, I do like having an music player and camera separate, because if I used the phone for all 3 and then lost it, well then, I'm hosed.

With all the iPads and everything else that people are toting around the parks anymore, it just kinda begs the question of.... Are you there to video a vacation or experience it?

I've witnessed a bunch of people that literally have the video camera running as they are going step by step through the park from rope drop to the kiss goodnight or wherever they end up... including the rides on the monorails and such.

That's why it's so much more annoying to me. Yes, I took over 600 pictures on my last trip, but I didn't live through the viewfinder either. I experienced and enjoyed my vacation. I didn't need every last second recorded to re-live later.

Just curious...why do you need a music player at WDW? The ambient sounds are part of the experience, why drown them out with something that you can hear on the radio at home?
