I really liked the bouncy, bouncy, Tigger room part of the ride. I couldn't figure out if it was the screens moving up and down or the actual cars bouncing.

Yeah, I think it is a combination of set and vehicle movement.

Technically, doesn’t Tower of Terror use a similar system? I’m fairly confident that I read the Elevator moves by way of radio communications through the 5th dimension. Now granted, you’re going down a hallway and can clearly see where you’re going, but it’s a similar concept regardless.

andre85 - yes, ToT uses a similar system. These ride vehicles (A G Vs) move around freely and independetly, even in and out of the V VC s. They use radio to communicate, and also follow a wire (like GMR/UoE) in the floor in the 5th dimension - mostly if a shaft goes 101 its due to something (a guidemap normally) falling on the wire and blocking the signal (amazing as it may seem). This had something to do with why DCAs ToT dosn`t move between shafts - its too unreliable. Why yhey can`t improve it in 10 years I don`t know though.

To be fair, the cars at the WDW ride bounce too when Tigger comes out. It may be the safe effect but just looked better on the video. That ride looks awesome though!! I want to go to Tokyo!

I'm still totally baffled by the lack of the 5th dimension for DCA's tower. What a loss! There's little they could do to make it as good as WDW's at this point. That sequence really makes the ride.

Yeah, it sucks. But I’m not ruling out DCA’s tower yet (Tokyo Disney’s will also lack the 5th Dimension from what I hear). The early reviews have been very positive. If you’ve never ridden MGM’s, you won’t know what you’re missing.

It would have to be way down the line in terms of the technology. I know..... think about it currently.... you're zooming along at 70mph and suddenly the main system flashes the blue screen of death. While Disney CM ctrl-alt-del the system to reboot, you're halfway to Morocco -- and have taken out 2 Churro stands and a Turkey Leg vendor on your way.

Actually, Disney computers use Linux, which can't crash, so you never need to worry about the "Blue Screen of Death!"

Also, the ride isn't down so much about cell-phones, but the system is still very much prototypical and there are still many kinks in it. THere are other problems associated with the system that are still being worked out. - The WeirdOne :D

Doesn't the Disneyland Version of ToT have a new scene though to make up for the lack of the 5th dimension.

*spoilers*

I know that when you go into the room which has the guests, when it goes dark, instead of a window appearing, an elevator appears and falls and you fall at the very instant.

Anyone know when construction on the Tokyo Tot starts and does anyone know if the Hong Kong Tot going to be an opening ride and where it will be located?

ehhhh..no..

its more like 50/50. Windows is seen in pleanty of things in the parks...and as for crashing...computers only crash when there are new functions added that clash with old ones (basically)..so as long as they dont go installing random things on those computers..all is good. Linux can crash just like anything else.

And you guys all have to realize why these parks (tokyo and paris) get better rides than us. CUZ DISNEY DOESNT PAY FOR EM ;)

Geez, we really did get screwed. :fork: I just saw video of the WDW version and now I’m upset. I’ll agree the WDW version tells the story better, but the technology used in TDL is just incredible.

If there is anyone else who has never been on the WDW Pooh because of the long line, here is the link.

Some better rides. Disney World has more than enough to compensate, imo.

I would expect/hope that they use LINUX for everything... or a proprietary system instead. The idea of my life being in the hands of Windows! (I say this as a loyal user)

I just saw the video and I wonder how people can think of ideas like that sober....The darker part of the ride looked amazing where you were moving all around a room....This shows that in a few years rides are gonna be amazing where there not gonna go in a general circuit like ride. New rides could be in one central home and move all over and not have to be on a track....

I just think it's incredible, because you could program set pieces to move around the room too. It could be such an immerse experience. Imagine a haunted mansion ballroom scene with animatronic ghosts sweeping across the floor and dancing among the ride carts.

You could even have entire rides take place in a single room in which walls and sets could move around you like crazy.

The possibilities really are endless. My bet is this is where all darkrides will be going soon!

The question is of the ride being feasible though.

Yeah one room may be cool but it could limit the people per hour as well as bring a much larger cost tag. And, it would probably be impossible for the ride to be located on a slope. The whole ride would have to be flat unless you got some very powerful motors and brakes.

But the video makes me think. Fantasyland in WDW needs to be be demolished (maybe only save philarmagic) and rebuilt to a much more beautiful area.

The castle fair themeing makes the area seem old.

But, then again, I do find myself riding the rides 10 minutes till park closing when all the little kids are gone.

Last time I did that I rode Pooh alone... I found it very fun and a great ride.
However, the best part was when I went on Peter Pan's flight. When I got off, the cast member operating the ride asked me if I was screaming and stuff in the ride and if I liked the thrill as well as some other silly questions.

I agree with you. I'm glad to see someone else was thinking the same thought. That part of the kingdom looks a little "faded." I don't know if it's that they're cutting back on maintenance or the usual fading due to the sun exposure, but it just looks kind of ragged. They need to redo it like they did to Tomorrowland.

That reminds me of this one time on the Haunted Mansion me and my little cousin were screaming near closing time there was no wait. A CM came on the loudspeaker stopped the ride and said whos screaming like a girl in there....Apparently theres mics in there or something.
