The closest match I`ve found for the Test Track vehicle type is a hybrid EMV. Surely thats wrong - unless the Enhanced motion is classed as the under track bogie wheels steer the car more than 4 wheels can?? I`m sure I saw the actual name on the net - can anyone help??

E.M.V. on Dinosaur and Indy (type 1 in DLC, type 2 in TDL), and A.G.V. and V.V.C. on ToT. Apparently Test Track(T.T) EMVs are a descendent of Rocket Rods (R.R.) hybrid E.M.V. too! What happened to the plain old omnimover??!! LOL!

Not much.
WDWs is a bit longer, tells the story better, and has 4 person cars.

DL's is shorter, has larger 6 person cars, and has an amazing setting in the woods of Critter Country.

it's all about priorities, now you know where eisners priorities run, and it's not in the parks. Thats why he must go. now you know what disney imagineers can do when someone else is flippin the bills. and it's not that disney dosn't have to money, eisner has it tied into other things.

When I watched the video, I saw what I believed to be a hidden Mickey at abount 2:15 into the the ride. It appears to be a bush in the shape of Mickey. Its in the lower left side of the scene where Tigger and the scene is bouncing. Somebody watch it and see if you think it is a HM too.

Furthermore, odds are WDW will receive an attraction that will employ similar technology sometime in the future.

Did we see that same video?

I think it is MUCH more than a cosmetic difference. The abilities of the trackless system so vast. Notice how the cars drive in forward, reverse, an spun in place. The also were able to travel over the same area more than once... something not possible with a track.

Oh note, it looks like they send 3 ride vehicles at a time in clusters that all manuever around one another. Pretty cool.

I also think this version seems a lot longer than WDW's.

Imagine the hybrid potential for attractions in the future. What about a trackless test-track attraction.

I also like the potential of a trackless haunted mansion. Having no idea where you are headed next... that would add to the creepiness.

I agree, WDW's does have a better story line, I did not like the ride's cars at DL. If I recall some of the effects at DL were a little better. I remember being really impressed with the rain scene.

I was never that impressed w/ WDW version. It was sooo hyped, and didn't deliver.

I've actually only been on it 3 times; however, one of those times the ride stopped dead about 5 times. Totally lost any momentum and destoyed the illusion of the ride.

Have other people had similar experiences with it stopping a lot?

It would have to be way down the line in terms of the technology. I know..... think about it currently.... you're zooming along at 70mph and suddenly the main system flashes the blue screen of death. While Disney CM ctrl-alt-del the system to reboot, you're halfway to Morocco -- and have taken out 2 Churro stands and a Turkey Leg vendor on your way.

Don't believe so. I think he just floats up. And I don't remember balloon turning into the elephant at that point either.

Only problem with the Tokyo Disney's Pooh ride is it is shut down alot because apparently cell phones can cause problems and the computer shut down as a safety precaution. They would have to fix that before they can make copies of it. One easy way I can see them doing this is just have a onboard virtual tracks and before they are sent into the ride they are told which track to follow.

The ride vehicles may need to communicate with each other (or a central server) to prevent collisions, though. Ideally, the ride would be timed and the vehicles would be spaced such that this would never occur, but one needs to consider the worst-case scenario in which one of the ride vehicles absolutely cannot move due to some mechanical malfunction.

Still, I love the idea of trackless rides, and I've always wondered why the concept wasn't widely used in the parks. It's well within the reach of current technology, but it involves some serious safety and security concerns; malicious individuals might anonymously tamper with ride operation, once they learned the protocol whereby the cars communicate. This could be interesting (imagine someone unexpectedly 'carjacking' your ride virtually), but of course it would be disastrous. :P

Wow, that Tigger room was awesome. Is there video of the WDW Pooh ride anywhere? I’ve never been on it because the lines are always so long.

I really liked the bouncy, bouncy, Tigger room part of the ride. I couldn't figure out if it was the screens moving up and down or the actual cars bouncing.

to be quit honest, i think it was a little bit of both. if i remember correctly, the camera was moving a bit. i think that would not be that difficult to incorporate either. just some hydralic lifts on each honey pot above the drive system.

aaahhhhh yeh, i do it all the time.............. nothing to it. lol
