Just a thought on Epcot's 25th...

With all this hype in recent refurbishments, I recently thought on the progress or any official news on Epcot's 25th. With Soarin' and the Land refurb in April, Turtle Talk with Crush, Ice Station Cool going down, Living Seas this month, Spaceship Earth potentially October, almost "official" Wonders of Life closure, and now speculation on an Energy refurb or closure coming in the near future, I am beginning to hope that perhaps all of this may be completed by October 1, 2007. Epcot is really cleaning itself up in what I hope is to anticipate its anniversary. Does anyone know if there has been recent official news or reliable info on the progress of either Project Gemini or any type of celebration announcement with the 25th.

Just wanted to start some speculation or recent updates on the matter.

Rumored updates, additions, or refurbs still needed by 10/1/07:

-Ice Station Cool
-Living Seas
-Spaceship Earth
-"Official" Wonders News
-Universe of Energy
-New Illuminations Show

I thought Project Gemini was scrapped apart from Soarin` (which was built on the oposite side of Gemini anyhow)

Just read elesewhere here TLS goes down next weekend. Farewell SeaBase Alpha?

Just guessing, but Energy will wait until WoL is sorted out one way or another; with Soarin` pulling the crowds west Futureworld East needs to hold it`s own, otherwise there could be another 1996 scenario: Test Track was already slipping, Horizons was closed and Energy`s refurb to Ellen slipped too. 3 of the 4 east pavilions closed in the summer. Horizons was brought out of mothballs (the sinkhole must have fixed itself) and Energy was reopened as Energy but with some of the Ellen infrastructure inplace (no Radok screens, Ellens AA covered by a rock, dinos in new colours, Theatre 2 console and map wall missing & a temporary voiceover in parts... messy.

It makes you think that they could just as easily bring the original show back for the 25th... :lookaroun (Not that I'd prefer it!)

P.S. Getting word in that the Land "coaster" idea/LandSeaAir ideas are back in blue sky... ohboy.

What have you heard about this Land "coaster"? Would this occupy space between TLS and The Land? And would this potentially mean another addition the the pavillion via demolition of the Circle of Life?

Do you mean that WDI has pulled out the concepts for the rainforest roller coaster again and are now considering them? Also what was the Land/sea/air exhibit again I remember rumors that living seas and land would merge into 1 building and I also remember bring Stormrider from TDS to this pavillion but I think that was scraped for Soarin'.

I would rather they just bring back Tapestry of Nations. I love that parade and the music. Having that and Illuminations on one CD was a blast!

Tapestry = Great Parade

I kind of remember the coaster LIGHTLY rumored sometime before, but can't remember if there was any solid information around. Can anyone fill me in?

And Grizz, do you know if the idea's being tossed around for the 25th, or just for the sake of being thought about?

I demand the freedom of Dreamfinder, The Sage of Time and the Dreamseekers. And a new incarnation of Tapestry of Nations with more back friendly puppets should come.

What have I heard...well we all heard that a coaster was being thrown around for The Land (and the idea was still held into the summer of 2003 just before Soarin' construction started). I think the point of Disney was to get a COASTER there, whether it was a Rainforest coaster, or a coaster about the evolution of a seed, who knows what. And yes, it could potentially mean getting rid of Circle of Life.

I was told today that the original Land changes included getting rid of Circle of Life - either making it a moving-theater type ride (see: HISTA) or something totally new. The coaster was in place. Later, a rocket-rods type attraction that might have linked the Living Seas with the Land (keep in mind there ARE already ride vehicles available). There's also talk of the Land/Sea/Air link (StormRider?). Just something to put in that space - it's right there...

Blue Sky: ANYTHING can happen. The coaster idea was going through various phases... eventually, the proposed budget went to a Canadian Raft Ride. But that idea made too much sense, so the it was cancelled. From what I hear the coaster idea is back under consideration.

coll, maybe we can disband the epcot needs coasters club soon...

Very coll indeed... :lookaroun

I don't want to see a coaster here. Circle of Life is a good family show and The Land does NOT need another thrill ride. This would make the building more of a mess in terms of crowd control. I like the serene area... put something really good in. Save the coasters for Showcase.

Just dump the Matterhorn on already. Or Fuji Coaster. Or raft rides. There's too much space not to.

Bring back the original Illuminations show for the 25th. And then debut a new Illuminations show the year after.

Wishful thinking, I know.
