Just a thought on Epcot's 25th...

i'm up for an illuminations featuring classic songs, from UoE, WoM, and of course, 'One Little Spark'.

And of course the finally where they blow the wand off...

The Epcot 25th should have a parade if it is actually going to be celebrated. I loved Tapesty of Dreams and Tapestry of Nations, but I heard that some of the performers had back problems from the appartus worn that helped make it so awesome. I still hope they incorporate something from that parade, especially the big rolling drum thing. Canada definetly needs something cooler to do, as we flat out skipped it other than when we stopped to buy sugar coated nuts. :slurp:

I am still not sure why everyone seems to think Epcot's 25th will be marketed as such a big deal.....especially since it would be on the heels of Disneyland's 50th/HCOE.....to me at least, it just does not compare at all.

In the next few years, I could see WoL replaced, but unless attendance were to improve by leaps and bounds (at least 3million more people per year) this would be done at the expense of another pavilion (the capacity is just not needed).....

SSE might get some reworking if a new sponsorship agreement is worked out, but as for now, the ride is rather up to date, and does not really scream for a renovation.

If UoE were to get renovated, I would think it would be a complete gut and redo....no more huge theaters or dinosaurs....no more huge moving cars.....

I can not imagine another country, unless it was India. India is one of the 2 fastest growning economies in the world (the other is china) and India has the fastest growing technology sector in the world......it is a future world power, and it could use the good press. I can not imagine any other country forking over the money to help finance such an attraction.

They seem unwilling to part with their money......unless it is to build new palaces

We could tell them we have a little plot of land by a lake for them to build a palace.....it has a great view of a giant ball with a wand over it.... :lookaroun

Oh, and as an incentive, we could tell them that twice a day they could burn flags and effegies (sp??) of President Bush.....you know, kinda of a show of sorts. Well, now that I think about it, that probably would not go over too well....well, unless we put Saudi Arabia by France, then it might be ok....

General, I would agree, if they had put the attractions in back in the 80's, but given the current environment, I doubt seriously we will see the "educational" attractions of the past. Thats why I dread any rehab to SE.
I understand this. But I think the rides added to the countries would have to be approved for representatives. (i.e. The Three Caballeros idea didn't fly with Mexico).

Im just saddened that its obvious that the lack of creativity that has festered. I would hope that it still exists deep in the dark hiding places of WDI, able to resurface once the final grasp of Eisner is gone.....which, who knows, may be beyond Iger....

It exists. Trust me. Unfortunately, layoffs do not help.

If the right people stay and the right people leave, there is still hope.

But the crossroads is becoming more and more visible.

And this is where the phrase "The dumbing down of America" is appropriate.

I could care less if "kids" like the WS or not. It was not intended to be a thrill section of the park. If you want thrills, go to your local trash ridden, punk teenager run Six Flags park. If you want quality entertainment and source for knowledge, go to the WS at Epcot.
Totally unnecessary. Most of us don't come here for trash-talking like this. Take it down a notch and read your own tag.

WOL is not closed for good. It will reopen in December like last yaer. They still use that building for conventions and meetings like the Odyssey. IT DOES NOT LEAK. Epcot maintains that building since they still use it.

Living Seas does not leak either.

Hmm.. wrong. Wonders does leak, particularly where Body wars is connected to the Dome (the queue) and where Cranium meet the Dome (again, queue).

The Living Seas? While leaks from the tank aren't a big problem (they have been minor from time to time) the buildings roof leaked terribly during the hurricanes and the VIP lounge flooded to the point that it kept the pavilion closed longer than other areas and in an open letter to the Epcot cast Brad Rex (Epcot's President) mentioned he was proud of the the work preformed to unflood the place.

Odyssey is used every week for Grand Gatherings, and also as a green room for characters during the festivals, and actual Guest events during the festivals too. It's actually a busy little building.

There was also a "waterfall" in the Seas exit hydrolators area, as reported on these forums. Sounds pretty funny.

With all this hype in recent refurbishments, I recently thought on the progress or any official news on Epcot's 25th. With Soarin' and the Land refurb in April, Turtle Talk with Crush, Ice Station Cool going down, Living Seas this month, Spaceship Earth potentially October

What is the scoop on SpaceShip Earth closing in Oct. It is suppose to go down for a long rehab (how long and what it being done)?

OCTOBER?

What?

I don't know that is what the original poster said in his first post, that is why I was asking. I am assuming if you don't know about it, it is not true though.

Not necessarily true, though if SSE were to go down with LS and WoL down . . . ouch.

I hope it doesn't go down at the same time, that is a ton. I also hope if it does go down it is for a cleaning or something not a total change. I really love that attraction. I wish they would go back the Walter Kronkite (Spelling?) version though.
