Jurassic Park Rollercoaster Coming To Universals Islands Of Adventure?

I guess you didn't see all the angst over the 'unthemed' coaster put into Toy Story Land coming from Disney fans.

Or the anguish of an out-of-place IP coaster in Epcot.

To be fair, there's a whole lot of angst on the Disney side of the forum. Trying to read through all of it can be a tall task. Especially when so much of it is about petty stuff, unlike, say... a still-popular classic ride being rethemed for no good reason.

See! Disney fans hate *all* theme parks without discrimination!!

I can't wait for this to open. It will blow away Tron and the Guardians coaster. Can we get back to discussing the coaster and the Dis fanboys stop making jabs with the stupid names for the coaster.

As Mark Twain was known to say, "Better to stay silent and have people think you are an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." (I paraphrase, of course) 🤪

If you get another one facing the other direction tomorrow it may mean a huge nod to what came before Dueling Dragons!

You are mistaken, as a coaster enthusiast too I am pretty excited for Jurassic World: Now YOU'RE the Dinosaur

Very funny. What is it about the coaster you don't like other then it's not hidden in a warehouse like the Mouse does.
Actually I don't have a problem with it, but Universal going the "place a giant statue on top of it" route yet again is a bit disappointing.

Pretty sure that is not the theme of this attraction.
That's the official name. I have confirmation from a friend of a friend who knows a bus driver who knows someone in Universal Creative.

Universal just copycatting Disney again...

Ignoring that thematically those aren't "statues" and they make thematic sense to be there (I am NOT saying Toy Story Land is a great land, however) as opposed to large figures that do not make thematic sense and exist as a marquee above all else, yep, this one example overrides UOR's (at least) four examples:

- Gringotts
- Transformers
- Hulk
- Monsters Cafe

And if it's not a giant statue it's a giant cutout (example: Spider-Man,) or oversized prop (example: Cat in the Hat). Universal loves creating these giant focal points at their attraction entrances to draw your attention and look great for photo ops and promotional material, while skimping on details elsewhere. It's like they're taking design cues from old school theme park map illustrations where everything must be marked with some sort of instantly recognizable thing.

If this is going to be yet another stationary figure it'll be very hard to not draw comparisons to Gringotts and shows a lack of creativity.

Also, before anyone quotes with "but Dino-rama!", yes, Dino-rama sucks. It should not be used as a counter-argument that somehow makes other examples okay.

Me: (thinking) 'Just wait until they bring in the second one.'
