Jungle Cruise to get holiday overlay

The reviews on Jingle Cruise are coming in from Disneyland now too, after it soft opened this weekend ahead of its formal November 12th opening. The reviews from Disneyland fans aren't good.

The general consensus in Anaheim is that it really depends on the Skipper, and some Skippers are just not good at the new Jingle Cruise jokes and gags. The decorations in the queue are also underwhelming people. The basic thought is "Jingle Cruise is dumb. Why did they bother?"

Keep in mind the Disneyland fans are naturally more critical, and they are comparing/contrasting Jingle Cruise to the much bigger and more lavish holiday makeovers nearby at Haunted Mansion and It's A Small World. Compared to those two other E Ticket biggies, Jingle Cruise appears very amateurish and underwhelming.

It would seem training of the Skippers is the weakest link here, and lets down the décor and overall concept.

At least we have "small world" Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. MK doesn't really have anything. They really could have done better.

I am really not sure what more should be expected? It adds a few holiday gags to an attraction. Would folks rather they loop Jingle Bells for the entire attraction?

The concept is solid. The guests suffer much more from self importance than a sub par attraction.

Guests also seem to be forgetting just how stale the current script is and how brackish the Skippers are most of the time.

Side note. Our Jingle Jungle cruise was the first time out of the last 6 cruises that I could even hear or understand the Skipper. Plus he tried making eye contact, had fun, and wasn't tired of the script. It was a very refreshing experience.

I just added the JC to our fast pass + thingmajigger (at least I think I did). I can't wait to see it. I'm a big JC fan, so the overlay will be a nice change of pace IMO.

Skipper Jordan was FANTASTIC yesterday.

For those claiming that the script does not need updating, they are proven 100% wrong by this special addition. This is the first time in years where the passengers were rolling the entire trip.

Congrats to Disney for throwing something really neat together. Now if they can only freshen up the very stale normal ride.....

Thanks for the comments....I'm heading to the "World" next week and am looking forward seeing this. Planned on hitting it each time in the MK as each trip and skipper can be a completely different experience, even working with the exact same script. Personally, I'm relieved that they didn't clutter up the jungle with decorations...how would it have made any sense if they had?

I liked it. I think there could be just a tad more decorations in the queue or on the boats, but otherwise, I like the change for the holiday season.

Who cares what a handful of rabid APers at Disneyland think? If they don't like the Jingle version, then they can ride it the other 10 months of the year when its the usual, same old, "boring" Jungle Cruise. I think if they give the skippers a week or two to become comfortable with new script, they'll learn to see it for what it is, a subtle but humorous change on the usual JC experience.

It was alright. Same cheesy jokes as usual. Was looking forward to seeing more lights or decorations throughout the ride- no such luck.

It looks like, besides the script, of course, the only differences between the MK version and the DL version are the few decorations on the boats and the burlap Santa hats the skippers wear at DL.

Do the skippers in MK wear these same Santa hats?

Completely unrelated, but looking at pics in that link only reinforces just how pitiful and sparse the holiday decorations at the Magic Kingdom are in comparison to Disneyland.

I rode the Jingle Cruise yesterday and it was a nice "plussing" of the ride. Skipper seemed excited to do a few new jokes. There really wasn't an overwhelming presence with the Christmas decorations (which in my opinion is a good thing) just a some good holiday additions to a classic attraction no need to change everything! (P.S this is my first post on here love the forums here!)

There really isn't that much of a difference. The only decoration MK seems to be missing is the boat decoration. I don't know if that's true or not. Other than that, it looks like the same things were decorated, the facade and the queue.

No no, I agree the JC areas are similarly decorated. I was referring to the pics in the Mice Chat link that showcase all the decorations throughout DL.

People are waiting 80 minutes in standby while fastpass return is 40 minutes out. Makes sense.

I thought holiday overlays were bad for the world lol. Time to bring back country bear holiday and add haunted mansion and small world.
Agree with everything here except HM should be a toned down overlay I really don't want to see it overrun with Nightmare before Christmas decorations for several months it just looks so good as it is!
