June Bugs

There are no bugs in Disney!!!

HAHA...are you referring to the love bugs? If so, they have been doing crazy things lately. They usually infest FL 2x a year for 2 weeks. First one usually in May. But last year they came out more than normal. It's hit or miss.
If you are referring to all bugs in general, this is FL, they always suck (literally). But honestly, I never seem to have a problem with bugs in Disney. I think they keep it pretty well sprayed.

what are the june bugs like the end of june first week of july

I've never heard anyone around here refer to any bugs as "june bugs". ??? Palmetto bugs are out all the time but subside in the cold weather, and love bugs come out in May and September usually - depends on the weather. I've never been bothered by love bugs at all. They are absolutely and completely harmless. They don't sting, bite, or do anything except fly around...they're horrible on the fronts of cars, but walking around I've never paid any attention to them.

There is such a thing as a "June Bug" - but it's a large green beetle-type insect. But as stated previously, the original poster is almost definitely referring to the Love Bugs, but since they come out around May/June, is probably calling them an incorrect name. June Bugs are a whole other thing - and much, much larger.

We get June Bugs here. They are pests that can eat up the plants, but I wouldn't think they would be a really big deal at the parks, and they really don't bother people.

For those of you who haven't encountered them, here's a pic:

The whole family goes every year in May and December. In total there are 7 little girls in our family ranging from newborn to 4 yrs old. On our first day at WDW last May we went to MGM. The love bugs were EVERYWHERE! It really was the worst we had ever seen. The babies would not stop screaming, crying and smacking at them. Finally Grandma (THANK GOD FOR GRANDMA'S :sohappy:) told the babies that they were just Tinker Bell's friends checking on us and giving us kisses. The babies believed it and spent the rest of the trip waving to them anytime they got close.

Just so you know, that was the last week of May '07 and after the first few days, the love bugs slowly started to disappear.

I went last year in June, and they were flying in the masses. We talked to a CM and he said that they prefer the sun, so stick to the shade! They usually seem to come out in the hot summer months, usually towards the beginning.

I have been to WDW in May, June, and October and I've never seen a bug! Have I just been lucky and missed them everytime!?!

I'm going in Sept., do I need to prepare for bugs? Do I need bug spray?

Not for love bugs. Like posted earlier, they're harmless. If anything they're annoying because they just fly around.

We have tons of June bugs in Pittsburgh - but I've never seen any in Disney, at any time of the year. The love bugs are there when we go in March, and in the last week of July, every year. They seem to be worse in the summer, and mainly bother us at our hotel, not at the parks. You should be fine :)

June bugs are harmless to people as well. I know this is totally redneck but being from the south, I must tell you that you can tie dental floss to the leg of June Bug and fly it around. :lookaroun Sorry, I had to tell you.
