Journey to the center of the Animal Kingdom???

I know, I know, this rumor has been floating around for a while. Just bare with me; Supposedly Mysterious Island (from Tokyo Disney sea) is coming to animal kingdom. I always thought it would be neat, but figured it was just wishful thinking.

Well folks, I was just watching a special on the travel channel about animal kingdom. During the last couple moments of the program (where the narrator delivers his closing statement) they were saying how there were endless possibilities for the park with vast amounts of land and Ideas. Much to my surprise, they flashed a 2 or 3 second clip of CGI modeling of the bug/alien creature from journey to the center of the earth ride.

I'm pretty sure that was WDI's hint for us disney nerds.

I've heard all the rumors floating around this topic, but I think this is pretty good proof that it's at least being thought of by the company.

so did anyone else see this?

That clip was in the orginal broadcast, which first aired YEARS ago, WAY before they even announced Everest.

It's just included to give off the impression of high-tech wonders yet to come. Not to suggest we're getting the ride.

actually, no. The show also featured finding nemo the musical, and expedition everest. I'm pretty sure its a year old at the most.

That special is very old. All they do is go in and add footage of the new attractions to the old specials so they remain relevant.

Don't get me wrong, from what I have gleamed from people I personally trust on the boards I think we will sea something new shortly. Just do not let the special mislead you.

I agree, to a degree.

I really wish WDI had more funding to make completely unique attractions (and to hire more Imagineers such as myself, heh) , but for those of us who can't make it to the other coast, I really don't mind cloning.

I really would be suprised if that particular special was just re-edited. I have seen where that has been done before, but I'm pretty sure this one was mostly original.

You can chose to believe whatever you want, but that is what happened. The show has been on the air for at least the last 4 years...at least.

It first aired back in 2001/2002 I think. (When TDS was still new) and then re-edited just back earlier in 2007. Don't believe me? Then why is it all the construction shots/concept art shots all show them working on Dino-Rama. (It's true! Watch it again!)

not to be argumentative in any way, but they did a whole segment on dinorama that was not concept art. And Joe rode was talking about dinorama in a present tense. I watched it just a few hours ago.

did you see the one that aired today?

That particlar show debuted in 2002. As far as I can remember, the CGI modeling has been there since its debut.
However, the show was indeed modified in 2007 as Travis stated.

Yeah, but if you look you'll see most of the "Construction" shots are of a guy working on the rim of the overhang that surrounds Triceratop Spin.

Trust us, the Journey bit at the end of that show is NOT new. Interesting, but not new.

That particular scene was discussed in a Jim Hill article from 2003 from the travel channel special. Welcome to five years ago.

I hate cloning...unless we get a clone of something from the Tokyo parks. The detail and technology is so much better than we get.
I do not think disneyworld will be getting anything anytime soon. With 1 billon invested in ca I don't see it. Disney better be careful with potter coming to universal, disneyworld cannot rest on their morals.

Rest on their "morals"? True, much of what they have done to the parks is immoral.

Welcome to the boards!
I don't think DCA really has anything to do with WDW has for budget. I thought that each park got their own budget to do what they wanted with.
