Journey into imagination incident

Any idea on the whereabouts of the "Follow Figment To Magic Journeys / Captain EO" sign?
That and the "Narrators Lamp" from Horizons would be my choice for my collection

I don't know what became of that sign, sorry.
With any luck, a CM who it meant something to ended up with it.

The small sign featuring Figment that used to be at the entrance welcoming guests to the Attraction I believe I have seen somewhere in a private collection.

is it true that the actual JIM is a "roller coaster" but working at the minimun speed??

I am no expert when it comes to knowledge on the specifications of the ride track and its operating system, so I can't answer that question.
I am sure there are others here with a clearer understanding that could elaborate on the specifics.

If i were to guess, just based on what little I am aware of, it is possible.
The track system is similar, but of course does not have the typical coaster ups and downs.
I recall remembering hearing somewhere that Spaceship Earth's track system was / is a modified coaster track.
So anything is possible.

I always thought that both of them where modified people-movers.

But i also hear that JIM was meant to be something more like a rollear coster so the ride can go way faster but does not. But thats only something i heared and dont know if it has anything of true..

I can definitely say that neither are modified People Movers.
'Journey' was and still is a track based system with several motors mounted into the floor space to move the ride vehicles forward.
WDWs WEDWay / People Mover is a completely different type of system that uses a unique way of moving the vehicles around.

I believe that was true but it was cut due to having issues with keeping everything in sync. It wouldn't be anything fast. Just pick up some speed on the downhill parts and then slow back down. I think @marni1971's video covers that.

I do seem to recall short section of coasting in the original version, or does my memory fail me?
Hate to say it, but there wasn’t. You were meant to coast on the downhill sections through literature (from the fireworks to the raven projection) and into the finale (the camera flash was meant to capture your surprise as well as showcase unbelievably amazing technology). Between this not working properly, the flight interface not always working, and the issue with the drive wheels, they basically ran out of time to make it all work as originally planned (given by March 83 the park was crying out for more capacity and Kodak weren’t best impressed with a ride you couldn’t ride)

That sounded pretty neat in the fact that it was meant to zip a little faster during the Horror/Literature and Finale/Camera section!
I say "zip" as in how the PeopleMover picks up in speed as soon as it leaves the loading station. I was actually pretty surprised to see how """fast""" the PM went when I first went on it back in '16

(I think I never wanted to ride it when I was little because I thought it was either a roller coaster or it went into AE and I didn't want to get scared even though it never goes into the Convention Center? lol it's like how i refused to go on E.T. Adventure at Universal as a little kid because I was scared of E.T. himself back then)

Might as well tear the whole thing down and put in something that won't have such accidents, might i suggest the original ride?

Can't do that. Must. Be. IP. Based.

If I could name a popular, and good, recent animated IP I'd suggest it. Animation has really fallen off a cliff recently (not just Disney but overall but Disney was always the gem amongst others).
