Joe Rohde Meeting

The mist effect, is just like the rest of AK, they use pressurized water and spray it out of really fine nozzles, so they can clog up with dirt and algae, they you need to add chemicals to reduce the algae growth and then that gets expensive, then the nozzles need to be removed and cleaned and reinstalled. Then the areas are not easily accessible, so it takes time and manpower.
Understood. Seems like routine maintenance.

So when you are trying to save money, you have the minimum people you need to do the maintenance, and safety is the number #1 priority, so you use your workers to do all the safety checks and PM's . Then a show item breaks or needs to be fixed, you don't have enough people or time to do it, so you just turn it off because the ride is still running.
Fail. Show items break, no doubt. I can understand a show item being broken for a day or two before it can be replaced.
But shutting it off, indefinately, because you are too cheap to fix it?
Fail.

I have heard managers and even directors say, if the guests aren't complaining about it then it must not be a problem.
You heard him folks. It's our move.

As far as SQS goes, when you gut your entire SQS dept, then you don't have to worry about too many SQS reports especially when only 1 or 2 people cover the entire property. And getting an 70% report is ok, when everybody used to get at least 95-100% and the senior vice-president thinks that is ok because it is still a passing grade
I volunteer to take on a full-time SQS job. I'll cover that resort like a blanket.

Responses in bold.

I don't accept either one as an excuse to cut the effect.
Firstly, if mist causes issues with sensors, why is it that Mummy can have all kinds of mist throughout it's ride without having those problems? Because they made it work. Disney can make it work if they want to.

Secondly, it wasn't that cold in the caves. Surely not enough to have any serious impact on the steel. What, coasters can't run in the cold now?

From what I saw the mist in Mummy is a haze, this is very thin and used in a lot of lighting venues to pick up beams without full preventing vision, like smoke would, However visible mist outside would have to be much thicker to be seen by the naked eye, so this may cause the clog.

It should still get sorted!!

Don't know if it's already been said but I saw Joe Rohde get out of a taxi at the Boardwalk Resort last friday. He was probably staying the night there. Too scared/didn't know if it was actually him to get a pic with him.

It's still a mix of haze and smoke I'd imagine... But I may be wrong, the mist would be a pointless move inside as the smoke and haze will linger easily and not affect the ride system...

I may be wrong though :lookaroun

I told you before, they uninstalled it because they didn't like how it was rusting the metal tabarms around it. It's stupid, I know, but it's true.

Yeah, I remember. I don't care what they like or don't like. I still don't accept it as a valid excuse. There are always ways to make the necessary effects work if one isn't too lazy/cheap to do it.

Is this still a thread about someone sharing their story of the fantastic experience of meeting an Imagineer and the great photo with him? No? Just a bunch of fanboy whining? Okay, not surprised I guess. Move along, nothing to see here.

Wait!! He was a very nice, down to earth kind of guy. I got to talk to him for
about a minute(thanks in part to my wife not knowing how to work the
camera). I asked about BK (this was over a year and a half ago), and he
said " there are no plans to build it, but things change so quickly
around here". He went on to say keep my eye on AK, there planning
something big (this was April of 2008)

We met Joe just a few weeks before EE opened and he was extremely friendly and accommodating. We were marvelling at the soon to open EE, just as the park was about to close, and I saw Joe along with other cast members and a camera crew approaching. While he was explaining something to the tv crew, my wife asked one of the CMs if he thought Joe might have time for a quick photo with our group. The CM spoke to Joe for a minute, and he then came right over to say 'Hi'. He found a great spot in front of Everest for the pic, and the CM took a few photos to be sure that at least one would turn out well. :) After that, Joe noticed my daughter's autograph book and when she asked if he'd sign it, he not only did that, but took the time to draw an illustration as well. He obviously had lots to do, but took the time to chat with park guests. We thought that was really nice and it is a wonderful memory from that trip.

Nice stories guys, and I'm really intrigued by Joe saying something big was planned. I like how he's seen inside his park a lot. Reminds me of a Walt-like thing to do. Yea, I just went there (;

Looks like that JTTCOTE rumor may not be so much fan-boy driven than I guessed it was.... hmm.

No way!!

I've got to listen to Bell's voice more closely next time I'm there... :lookaroun

[/ hysterical American Adventure fan ]

Me too.

It was on some obscure website, so I can't be sure of it's validity, but that's what I read. Hopefully our good friend MythBuster is back soon to let us in. :)
