I read somewhere that they were extending out the kitchen in Japan. That would be excellent. I know the restaurant has been busy ever since sushi became a fad. Looks like the restaurant is going to be amazing. Can't wait till its done. Looks amazing. I am just waiting for Lee or Corrus to chime in.

I am surprised no one has posted the new names for the two restaurants in the Japan Pavillion. Teppan Edo for Mitsukoshi Teppanyak and Tokyo Dining for the new sushi bar, ok how boring is that.

Well, Teppan Edo is good because Edo style food is good.

And i would assume the half white circle thing is for the sushi bar.

Onto the Ugly Wand. With an ugly discolored spot..

Because everyone wants to see a rusted steel strucutre looming over them, so rusted that the paint is bubbling up.

This just gives me more reason to hate that darn thing. I can't wait until I can see its destruction. :lookaroun ;)

The thing outside Wonders of Life is a light pole. They make them swing down like that to make it easier to change the light bulbs.

What's the matter Mr. MacPhee?? You can't go to the Home Depot to get a few gallons of paint and a brush??:hurl: :hurl: :hammer:  :lookaroun

um...we don't want them to repaint the Wand, as that would almost surely mean the Wand was going to last longer. I say let it continue to rust through the summer and get it down in the fall!

Rusty screws are easier to get off.

That sounded kind of suggestive.

This looks likes a problem I saw at one of the Wastewater Treatment Plants I was working at. (Geotech Engineer btw, I don’t usually work at them but this whole plant was settling) Anyway they showed me this one tank that is used for sludge storage and the neighbors had been complaining because it stinks (Hello of course you live next door to a WWTP) so they covered the structure. Well there was so much build up of toxic material that is ate away all the grout out of the concrete leaving nothing behind but the aggregate. That picture looks like grout deterioration…not good. Basically to repair something like that is to replace it. So I am curious to see what happens and I am curious what chemicals where being used to cause so much damage.

The water proofing is to prevent irrigation, which remember is actually reclaimed water, aka full of...well fertilizer, from seeping into cracks and into the foundation of buildings, directing the water towards the built in drainage. In an absolute worse case scenario, water causes cracks, cracks turn larger, foundations become unstable, and the possibility of sink holes develop.
