Well, Teppan Edo is good because Edo style food is good.

And i would assume the half white circle thing is for the sushi bar.

Is the restaurant going to keep the traditional Japanese style with shoji and such or will it become more modern-looking? It appears more modern looking than the old Teppanyaki.

I guess they are chainging the name to Teppan Edo as Japanese (and Americans who are Japanese food purists) don't like the teppan asociation as teppan is really an American creation. Adding the "Edo" gives a little more authenticity and tradition to the restaurant.

I'd love to see an outdoor noodle stall pop up in the Japan pavilion area like they have in Toyko. Those are really fun tot eat at, especically in the evening hours.

Because everyone wants to see a rusted steel strucutre looming over them, so rusted that the paint is bubbling up.

Thanks for the pics Merf!

I wonder if rusted bolts are hard to undo when you take it down...

Two rules get you through life:
  • If it's stuck and it's not supposed to be, WD-40 it.
  • If it's not stuck and it's supposed to be, duct tape it

The rust on the wand is being blown way out of proportions. That amount of rust on the wand would pose a danger of weakening the structural steel in several decades. All that is shown is minor surface oxidation, drive over any metal bridge (or exterior structure) that hasn't been painted in a year or 2 and you will see the exact same thing. There is no danger whatsoever.

Perhaps they will be planting things that need acidic soil - concrete and any type of masonry leeches compounds into the soil that turn it into a base. The water proofing could be to prevent that process. The pipe in the middle is most likely a drain so that the soil doesn't become saturated.

Then again it could be the start of the new pool for the DVC resort that they are converting the wand into...

The water proofing is to prevent irrigation, which remember is actually reclaimed water, aka full of...well fertilizer, from seeping into cracks and into the foundation of buildings, directing the water towards the built in drainage. In an absolute worse case scenario, water causes cracks, cracks turn larger, foundations become unstable, and the possibility of sink holes develop.

Actually, I believe they only use reclaimed waste water for watering non-Guest areas such as the medians along the highways, entrance planters to the resorts, etc. Anything easily within Guests' reach in the parks and resorts (as this planter is) uses the regular water supply. Areas using reclaimed water for irrigation are typically marked with flags saying as such, similar to the chemical marker flags on pesticide-treated lawns.
