Just got back from a preview screening of WALL*E. No spoilers or plot talk from me, just my opinion. This one is going to be a big hit. I arrived a little over an hour before the show and the line already had, at least, 30 people. I go to a lot of previews and lines don't usually form that early around here.

Anyway, the first thing up was a preview of Bolt. Jurry is still out for me on this one, but it looked promising.

"Presto" is an extremely entertaining short that had the entire theater laughing along. I wish it had been a bit longer, though. It was good enough that I wasn't in a hurry for WALL*E to start.

When the feature started, you could really tell the kids were excited. When WALL*E first appears, it's from a distance, you could hear all the kids start to realize around the theater and say, "It's WALL*E!" They didn't need any introduction. That's a sign of a winner to me. I have to hand it to Pixar on this one. Developing your characters with minimal dialogue is tough thing and they really pulled it off. You feel it when good AND bad things happen. Normally, I will sit back and just enjoy the movie knowing that it's really for my kids. Not this time. I was into it. My wife prefers traditional Disney animation and even she came away impressed. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll cut it short. Go see it!!

I saw it as well and loved it. I really hope it wins out the box office this weekend considering it's competition, "Wanted", is getting pretty good reviews as well. It's really hard to compare to the rest of the Pixar lineup.....but I liked it a LOT more than Ratatouille and Cars (I like those two, by the way). Currently I will say it is Pixar's best but we'll let the novelty wear off a bit and see if it still holds. The only bad thing, and this is uncertain as of now, is there is a possibility the movie's plot may stir up controversy especially coming from the "heavy" population. I laughed a lot more than Ratatouille as well and found it to be hilarious. The short in the beginning was hilarious as well.

I see this movie being a huge hit by word of mouth alone. One of our second shift nurses saw it as well and wouldn't shut up about how good it was.

I also want to say that I loved the incorporation of live-action actors INTO the film which worked out perfectly. I thought it was awesome and it is the next step for Pixar. (Aren't they working on live-action movies for the future?)

Your review has me very excited for my Wall-E preview tomorrow (Thursday at 12:05 AM, so I'll be sitting in the theatre in less than 24 hours). It looks really promising, and I can't wait to see it!

Glad to hear such positive reviews. I love anything Pixar and am looking forward to this. Pixar is the only guys whose films I love, all of them, which is pretty cool!

Besides being a Pixar film and just looking cool, Ben Burt, who did sound design for the Star Wars movies (amongst others) worked on this film. He was the voice of R2-D2 (of course he tweaked his voice with the machines to make it sound like a robot) and is doing the voice of Wall E, so I really can't wait to see what he does. I wonder if he will include the Wilhelm scream in this?

I love the way Wall E says WWaalll EEEE. So cute.

Matthew Wood was the sound editor as well. The way WALL*E says EVE is even cuter than when he says his own name.

I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I have no complaints about the movie, it's fantastic. The only issue with the live actor is that they don't really relate in appearance to to how the animated humans look. It requires a bit of imagination leap, which is fine. I'm just not sure that I would have made the same choice. I agree that this is next step for Pixar and Andrew Stanton since his next project is John Carter of Mars.

I kind of agree that the live actors didn't look like the animated humans but then again the animated humans looked like Jabba the Hutt. I thought it was different and rather cool.

There's live action actors in the film? I didn't know that. That is a strange choice to make filmwise, but I'll have to see it before I really form a defnite opinion.

:) True. I get your point. It's a stylistic choice. It didn't take anything away from the movie for me. I loved every second.

It's minor in scope, but plays an important role. It's not as pronounced as it sounds.

Are you talking about actual live actors playing specific parts and what not, or things such as when they incorporate the live-action film that Wall-E watches as seen in the trailers?

But yes, I remember hearing somewhere that Disney/Pixar was going to do some live action work. Won't Up! have some live action in it?

Not the film that Wall-E watches. Fred Willard is a character in the movie (sort of). I'm not aware that UP! has any live action, but I'm no expert. 1906 is a live action movie and John Carter of Mars is a mixture of live action and animation (at least that's what has been reported).
