How are ya Betty?

Christmas was good here. It was HOT! 73 and humid. Foggy all day! It didn't FEEL like Christmas at all.

WDW was very warm Christmas Day, and humid. Had a brief shower or 2, also.

Now I am home and it is snowing.

Sigh....

How are you, Rick? Did you and your family have a nice Christmas?

Edit: Hi, Betty!

Besides it being unseasonably warm and humid it was good. The family is great! Kinda glad 2008 is almost gone. I don't think I'll put this one in the "great" year catagory.

How's the job going (dare I ask?)?

Talk about a long story and a rollercoaster ride... hey that sounds like a WDW attraction!

Here's the short version. My church is voting on me tonight for the position of Youth Pastor and Media Director. My branch manager here had told me that I could go to 4 days here and work a day part time at church. So everything was good. Then Monday he calls me in and "says" that human resources won't let me go to 4 days and he either needs me full time or not at all. So I reply.. do you want my notice now or in writting. He says well what about a month.. that way I can look for a job and I can train the new guys. I said sure!
Tuesday morning I have a meeting with architects, engineers and contractors about a large job we are doing. I thought it a good idea for the branch manager to come since he is still fairly new and will need to know all he can about this job since I will be leaving in 30 days. Well through the meeting we are going back and forth solving the worlds problems or at least as they pertain to this building. I'm watching the BM sit there with a glazed look in his eyes. I know where this is going. Right after the meeting he says.. look, let me talk with HR again and see if we can do that 4 days a week. I really need you to stay on. I smile and say sure, just let me know! Here's the truth, I doubt HR has ever been involved in any of this. I think he wanted to let me go cause I am higher on the pay scale and he could get his budget looking better, but then in that meeting realized he ain't got a clue yet. So.. monday I was unemplyed full time after January. Tuesday I am employed for at least another 6 months depending on when my church can move me to a full time position.

THAT'S THE SHORT VERSION!

Nice to be needed at least!

Got to run - I'll be back later.

Happy New Year's Eve!

My son is perfecting the sound and lengths of his burps - he says 'excuse me' when I'm calling him on it, but you can see the pride on his face.

Wow that does sound like a rollercoaster - I hope you can get a definitive answer soon, Rick. ((Hugs))

I don't know, I kinda like living day by day.. ever see the Princess Bride.
The part where Wesley is explaining the daily routine with the dread pirates Roberts.

Goodnight Rick, Goodjob, I'll most like fire you in the morning!

Well, better firing you than what the dread pirate Roberts actually said. It would drive me nuts not to know, but that's me.

Oh, you know what? I'm looking at staying down at Windsor Hills for our next Disney trip. Given that you are the one that recommended the place to me first, I thought that might interest you. I found a 3 BR townhouse that would work for us....hope to decide in a couple of months whether to book it.
