Silly question but I am super interested in one of those 2 night cruises to nowhere. Problem is, I have absolutely no clue who I would go with right now. I assume that would make it impossible to book at this time, right?

I think you do have to provide a name for every passenger. Now whether or not you could just fill in the blanks with any name then change it down the road I don't know. But if it helps you snag a good deal...

Not quite impossible but a little more difficult. If you book now and add someone in later, they will pay the rate at the time of booking. There is also a possibility that the lifeboats will be full and you won't be able to add someone to your room even though there is technically space in your room.

I would probably take a guess and put someone in there now. Its not a problem to change people in the room. It is a problem to change the lead guest, not the others as long as you are outside of the penalty period.:)

So I can book it with myself and the person who I THINK is most likely to go and then change it later if I have to? I love the idea of a Disney cruise out of NY...especially since it is relatively cheap and that is probably the only time I will ever be able to afford a Disney cruise.

When you rebook onboard, you will rebook at the current rate. They will run the numbers for you and see if you are better off with the rate you have booked or the existing rate with the 10% off and onboard credit.

If you want it, book it now. There's no downside to booking it now. You are insuring you get the best rate that way. If you wait, you may have missed the best rate!

I hear you, I would love a Strictly Hawaiian cruise but unfortunately this is the only way to do it with a ship that is registered in the Bahamas.

It's so hard!

The deposit is 20% of your voyage fare. As long as you are outside the penalty phase and you aren't in concierge, it's fully refundable.

A few special cruises, ie maiden voyages are an exception to that, but the NY itineraries shouldn't be.:)

I did not know this - learn something new every day.

The laws for cruises are quite complex!:)

Wow! Okay. Well, I guess we never cease to amaze ourselves. I thought for sure with the sailings out of Galveston it'd be a total no-brainer. Then when all the new offerings came out there was so much to consider. We thought of each one, the pros & cons. We considered destinations we've always wanted to see and pondered what we would enjoy. And so, after much deliberation it looks like we'll be slapping a deposit down ooooooon....

......the September 10, 2012 Wonder 6-day Vancouver to L.A.! Instead of doing a balcony we figured go with an inside stateroom then use the $$ saved pay for our airfare or to book excursions in San Francisco (since we'll be there TWO DAYS!). We'd also like to spend 3 or 4 days at Disneyland once we get to L.A. since the boys and I have never been there. DH went once when he was 10 or so. This will be right around our 19th wedding anniversary so it's definitely a great time to celebrate together! Yes, we *are* mulling over an onboard vow renewal. I'm kinda doubtful I'd actually follow thru on that. I look at that $2,500 and think of all the awesome stuff I can do with it ((like pay for Disneyland!)). I'm impressed with the pricing. $2337.64 for my family of 4 for 6-days is less than we paid for our 3-day Dream deluxe verandah this coming September and we like the thought of going to San Fran a heckuva lot more than going to any island port.

Exciting stuff! :sohappy:

Vancouver to LA sounds cool. I ended up talking my sister into going on the 5 night NYC to Canada cruise August 5th. It will be 5 of us crammed into a family stateroom with verandah, but I'm hoping we won't actually spend that much time in there. I may or may not cancel the NYC 2 night cruise to nowhere that I booked on Friday. Haven't decided that yet.

Maybe we'll see you on the ship. We're also on that cruise. (The 6th is our anniversary.)

Hope to see you both there! I just sent in my deposit for the August 5 cruise

See ya around deck! We ended up on the 8th deck in a family suite. We wanted to be more midship, but there weren't any available rooms. The real bonus for this cruise is that my sister is able to use her DVC points for some of the adults and it will only end up costing us around $3500 out of pocket for 5 people.

Also, I think I might start a roll call for summer 2012 NYC cruisers just for the heck of it.
