"it's a small world" 50th anniversary celebration

I saw all four of the Disney attractions at the NYWF when I was 6. I remember them all vividly. In fact, iasw became an obsession with me in my childhood, and is still one of my must-do favorites. Parts of the DL version are "original", but during the move from NY to DL, the ride was incerased in size by 33% (in the original, you went straight from Mexico to the grand finale), and the layout was extensively reworked. "Disneyland Goes to the Worlds Fair" is an excellent documentary of all 4 attractions, and shows an almost complete ride-through of the "original" it's a small world. I don't know if it's ever been commercially released, but it is readily available on YouTube.

You are right. That is a touchstone special for Disney and the people who saw it.

It was released on at least one of the Walt Disney Treasures box sets ("Disneyland: Secrets, Stories, and Magic"): http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-T...&keywords=Disneyland+Goes+to+the+World's+Fair

But if you really want to geek out with archives from Disney and the World's Fair, check out this CD set that I picked up last year or so at Walt Disney World: http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-1...&keywords=Disneyland+Goes+to+the+World's+Fair

That is an amazingly complete CD box set of all of the Disney audio (including pre-show) for all of the attractions Disney did at the World's fair. Also includes Lincoln's complete speech and other nuggets.

And it might even (GASP!!!!) bring additional people to the parks. With their check books.

Maybe stock a kiosk next to iasw with iasw merchandise.

Is this really that hard to figure out? Crazy talk?

Do the same for CoP. I'd certainly buy some CoP merch if it were tasteful and available. Besides a $45 tshirt, of course.
I would use my entire souvenir budget for CoP merch. In a heart beat.

I think this is why a lot of folks were fairly dismayed with the character overlay being done in DL's 'Small World'
While it is a novelty to some, others feel it betrays the original attractions intent and alters that original tone.

I enjoy seeing the different versions between DL and WDW, but i will admit i am glad WDW does not have character figures added.
Of the two, i would have thought the character overlay would have gone to FL instead of CA.
The thought process being, keep DL's 'original' since it is the one from the Fair, and overlay the recreated 'copy' at WDW.

Personally, i would prefer no characters in Small World.

-If you make a doll through the website, it'll add $1 to the UNICEF fund.

So if nothing else, do that. Make Disney pay up.

My doll's name is Barf. :)
