"it's a small world" 50th anniversary celebration

One of the best armchair Imagineering ideas I've heard on this forum was moving it's a small world to Epcot. I'd love to see them move it to where the Odyssey is now (fill in some of the water in that area). This frees up a huge area in Fantasyland where Tangled, Frozen, Fairies, Princesses and a lot more can be represented. It's to the point now where it's a small world is thematically a better fit in Showcase Plaza than Fantasyland.

Sorry, But No...I couldn't stand two versions so close to each other...Gran Fiesta is fine enough..

That's a decent point, but ultimately removing Gran Fiesta Tour and replacing it with it's a small world is still a better choice. Consider that Gran Fiesta Tour is one of the few rides that they didn't equip with Fastpass+, I don't think any decisions in the park should be made based on that attraction.

I also say this, knowing that the relocation of it's a small world has close to a 0% chance of happening because the world we live in isn't Roller Coaster Tycoon. It could make all the sense in the world, but it doesn't mean they're going to do it.

Went to see Divergent yesterday and there was a pre-movie ad about the It's a Small World Anniversary. It had people of different cultures singing the song, but had very little other content or announcements. Seems like they are appealing to our nostalgia. It did for me. I remember learning this song in elementary school. That was a nice memory. I also remember being stuck on the ride for twenty stinking minutes at WDW. I cringe at this memory.

No to moving it to Epcot.
No to more M&Gs.

Well, it's settled then. Susan doesn't want any more meet and greets so Disney won't build any more.

Sorry, Meet and Greets aren't going away. I really have no problem with more princess meet and greets in Fantasyland, provided that they're accompanied by attractions. A Rapunzel ride+ meet and greet combo and a Frozen ride+meet and greet combo would be more logical in today's Fantasyland than it's a small world.

Never really thought about it, but that would probably be a really good idea, as long as they can market it well, perhaps with some other overall renovations. In the Odyssey place, it might also help make a good transition from Future World to World Showcase.

I saw all four of the Disney attractions at the NYWF when I was 6. I remember them all vividly. In fact, iasw became an obsession with me in my childhood, and is still one of my must-do favorites. Parts of the DL version are "original", but during the move from NY to DL, the ride was incerased in size by 33% (in the original, you went straight from Mexico to the grand finale), and the layout was extensively reworked. "Disneyland Goes to the Worlds Fair" is an excellent documentary of all 4 attractions, and shows an almost complete ride-through of the "original" it's a small world. I don't know if it's ever been commercially released, but it is readily available on YouTube.

plus that opens up space for the internets cry for a frozen ride where is belongs. though next to HM probably not the BEST location

Right well... there's supposed to be a 'land' between and you're supposed to gloss over the fact that they're right next to each other.

:)

I would love a Frozen ride. Even if it's a boat ride that maintains the same shape/form of iasw (because, budgets) would be a welcome addition to MK. Give the new FL a little extra beef.

it solves a lot of issues, so it will never happen...

Very true. We can't have "sense" and problem solving. :\

Unrelated note, but I saw someone Downtown today with "Steel City Magic" written on their sweatshirt- it looked like a jazz scene/music notes with the Pittsburgh skyline under it- also had the Steelers logo in the top right corner. Was that you?!
