Italy Pavilion Construction 1/02?

Anyways, back on topic... Italy not Canada! :p

*Ahem* Err yeah...
Anything in Italy would be nice. IMHO it's always felt like the smallest pavilion - a restaurant, a few very small shops. I do hope the pizza is close too authentic though, not the usual WDW Pizza. It would be like serving regular Ice Cream instead of Gelato.

The answer to what kind of pizza it will be is obvious...Torgo's Pizza!

I was looking at google earth and they have so much space around WS that they could truly create amazing environments and new lands. They could even create some small boutique hotels within each land.

I'm convinced with a DCA 2.0 budget, they could fill the parking lot daily.

The boutique idea died long long ago. Once with WESTCot and once with DCA. I never liked the idea, to be honest.

A DCA 2.0 budget would work wonders in EPCOT. They could fix so many of the aesthetic problems, and really sink their teeth into building more.

However, they already fill that parking lot daily. ;)

Well, I haven't been for over a year, but it was rare that I saw the parking lot full since AK opened. I still think they could incorporate small hotels, not that I believe that is the most important thing they need to do. I was just amazed by how much land is available around WS. Just a really good E-ticket at the back of WS would work wonders I think. Maybe the Italy add will contain a suprise.

Go back!

And yes, a E-Tic would balance the park VERY well.

Pizza. Seems so simple. Yet in all my decades going to WDW, I gotta admit it's the one favorite food of mine that they've never been able to make well.

I'm not counting the flatbreads at the California Grill.

Talking real Italian pies ... and they just fail miserably at it everywhere.

Oops, wait ... I remember when Port Orleans and Dixie Landings first opened in the early 90s they had pretty tasty pizzas. But since then? ... I guess Puck's Express gourmet-ish pizza would be the best ... and they aren't all that either.

Why does TDO hate EPCOT? Why?

A pizza joint still gives me no reason to venture into WS past Norway... Or the Tequila bar... depending...

Hate to sound like I'm defending TDO, but they don't hate EPCOT.

The food and beverage and merchandise sales are generally music to their ears.

There's a reason so many locations have been spiffed up the past two years and why things like the tequila bar and now this pizza joint are being added.

I'm glad to see it.

That's great and all, but these are theme parks. They need to theme something other than food. Such as...a ride? :D

True, I do kinda worry that they think its cheaper to just do new dining or stores or something instead of constructing new attractions and rides from scratch sadly. And it is cheaper probably of course, but latley it does seem like the parks are becoming glorified malls. I love dining and shopping but Disney seems to have left new rides in the dust. Of course economy hasnt helped. MK is getting Mermaid, but um it should be Epcots turn next for something no?

Surely this new project in Italy will beautify it even more, if the Imagineers have their heads on straight. But if Patina is building it does Imagineering have anything to do with it at all? Or does Patina just pay for it and Imagineering designs it?

I'm not defending them AT ALL (rarely do.) but in the past decade, we did get Soarin, MS, a new Seas (It does bring in money, but for all the wrong thematic reasons), a new JII, and a new SSE. And that's just FW.

However, for expansion, or something really marketable, YES. It is high time that they put something into EPCOT that it could use for a few years. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about, and I hope Disney does, too.

*patiently waits for next D23 Shindig...or sooner?* :D ;) :lookaroun

I feel 100% the same way. Pizza's one of my favorite foods, and I know I'm not the only one. It seems to me that a quality pizza facility would be quite the home run with Guests and the money makers.

A unique, tasty pizza restaurant is one of the few things that would get me to go back to Downtown Disney.
