OK... I know, u popular opinion, but I think Gideon's is over-rated. Was the cake good? Yes. Are the slices huge? Yes. Was it worth standing outside in100 degree heat for 30 minutes and paying $10 per slice for? No.

If say if you can't really bake, it could be worth it for you if the weather is decent or there's no line. But E and I bake all the time, our cake is every bit as good and I prefer less frosting...the ratio at Gideon's is WAY off... I'd be happy with like a fourth of the frosting. So we could make our own way cheaper and not have to stand in that sun to get it. We didn't buy any cookies because none of the flavors appealed to us. Again, we can bake our own. There's a place for it for people who CAN'T bake, but it wasn't worth it for us.
I bake a lot too and haven't tried Gideon's yet. I mainly want to try the Peanut Butter Cold Brew that everyone raves about.

Thank you so much for an interesting report, really enjoyed it. Safe travels home.
Thanks! I'll be posting some more detailed stories later since there was just no way to keep up. My Dutch phone usually didn't want to connect to wifi and we couldn't use mobile data on it, and my American phone was SLOW! There are a lot of gaps to fill.

We're home! E headed straight to bed, but I'm trying to stay awake and go to bed early tonight so I get back on Dutch time. Flight was relatively uneventful. Just a poor baby crying during the take off and landing. And it was FREEZING at first. E and I were in the middle section by ourselves, so I stole the other blanket. We each had a sweatshirt, but she had her Stitch poncho as well, so I got the extra blanket. The flight attendant saw me all huddled up and said she'd make it warmer, and she did. And that's about it. I'll need to go through my pictures and stuff before getting to the good stuff and I need sleep before I can do that. So that will come later. But we're home!
