All this discussion about MSEP vs Spectro, which version of Wishes, etc, etc got me thinking... Is your favorite parade or fireworks show the first you saw at WDW?

My favorite is still the MSEP for sentimental reasons. It was my first many, many moons ago and has instilled itself in me and would be quite difficult if not impossible to replace.

My fireworks of choice however is Illuminations, due to anticipation, it took 3 trips for me to get to see it.

So what are the reasons behind your favorite parade / fireworks/ ride whatever?

That makes sense to me. I associate MSEP with Disneyland because I always saw it there. Spectro was the first parade I saw at MK and I want it to stay in MK. I prefer MSEP at DL and Spectro at MK.

Based on what I've seen in MSEP vs Spectro threads, that does indeed seem to be the case - the parade a person was raised on is the one they generally prefer. I fell in love with Spectro before I ever saw MSEP, and I do indeed have more emotional attachment to the former today. I can still appreciate MSEP for what it is - I just want Spectro back before too long. :D

My trip in March will be my first one seeing MSEP (my first WDW vacation wasn't until 2005 sadly :(). After seeing Spectro on all three of my previous trips and REALLY liking it, I am torn on whether I should be excited that I finally get to see MSEP or sad that I won't get to see one of my favourite parades again.

Regarding the parades, my favorite (MSEP) is not only my first, but it also happens to be the only parade I've ever really enjoyed at WDW (and then later at DCA). I'm just not a parade person, but MSEP is so unique that it's more than a parade, imo.

The fireworks, however, are a different story. I always love them and never miss them. And without question, the best fireworks show Disney has ever produced (and probably will ever produce) is the Remember Dreams Come True fireworks that are being shown seasonally right now in DL. It's tremendous.

My first visit to WDW was the day after a very close friend passed away. Clearly my parents weren't going to cancel a trip 12 hours before, so we went anyway. It was a really rough flight for me, because I was conflicted. I thought "my best friend just lost her fiance, and I'm supposed to be going on this fun 22-year-in-the-making Disney Trip....I'm a horrible person."

I was so upset, and when we arrived at Magic Kingdom after a 3 hour flight, I saw Cinderella Castle, all glowing and shimmery, and then there was an announcement for the fireworks. Then it happened; I saw "Wishes" 2008. I was captivated and amazed, and I let all my tears go as soon as I heard "When you Wish Upon a Star".

After that, my parents to took me to the Haunted Mansion. I was in heaven. I had it in my brain that the 1000th ghost in the manor was my departed friend Nick, and that he was living it up with the other ghosts and scaring people.

My first experiences with Disney World were the HM and Wishes. They will always be my favorite things in WDW.

I actually do not fit that mold! MSEP was my first night parade as a child, and I always loved it....til I saw Spectro. And I LOVE Spectro. I even went back this summer to see MSEP, and I surprisingly found myself longing for Spectro about halfway through the parade. And now I have to say, I am really bummed that it seems MSEP will still be there when we go back in June. It's just not my favorite anymore. Sigh...at least I still have Wishes and Illuminations!
