Is Tokyo's new Space Mountain a sign of reimagining for DL?

Oh like MC would never repost anything ever.

Someday, I need to start my own Disney fan site so that MC will repost my rumors.
I'm not saying they aren't reposting anything, just that its not a single site reporting it anymore.

For all we know MC actually heard some real rumblings about it. We'll find out in 4 months if it ends up being true or not.

Did they just sneak it into yesterdays update? I just skimmed through and didn’t see anything
Yes it was in yesterday's update, its in the section about Hyperspace:

We expect Disney to announce plans for the redo of Disneyland’s Tomorrowland at this year’s D23 Expo in September. My bet is on a version of the Tron coaster as the new anchor of the land. But that puts a very modern show building next to the classic Space Mountain facade. But that new mountain for Tokyo sure does look like the perfect compliment to a Tron coaster. I can just imagine Disneyland’s new Tomorrowland swathed in those ribbons of glowing blue and white. And the development cost would be less because much of the work has already been paid for by Tokyo Disneyland…

OR they could cheap out like they did at the Magic Kingdom in Florida and squeeze a Tron coaster into Tomorrowland and not make any improvements to the rest of the land or to Space Mountain.

Thanks! Weird that they would just sneak it in there like that. That tells me it’s conjecture and wishful thinking. Not to mention they use the words “we expect…”

I rode Autopia with my son last night and I just really enjoyed the ride and the whole classic Disney charm of the entire area. All the trees. Those benches under the monorail tracks. The whole area feels like vintage DL- at least to me someone born in the early 80s. In short, I’m hoping they just don’t cram the Tron show building in Tomorrowland.

Exactly. Total conjecture on their part. They totally read the other site and didn't want to be left in the cold if it did happen. Remember, these are the jokers that said Disneyland was getting a Ewok treehouse in middle of sub lagoon and a x-wing/tie fighter spinner on top of the Captain EO theater.

How many Tron coasters do we need. Please stop Disney.
Sad thing is the Tron coaster was too along in building when Tron Legacy went belly up at the box office that they had to finish it. Now it became so popular they got to put it everywhere based on a dead ten year old IP.

Well the original rumor as I recall was that when Disney ordered Tron they ordered two additional ones for a total of 3.

Now whether that means its going into DLR along with the one already under construction in WDW, well who knows. I know we've debated this over and over, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did announce Tron coming to DLR.

I hope not. Hard to imagine 3 full sets of tracks in a warehouse for 8 years.

If every TL is the same, how much more boring can you get.

They may have ordered three of them ten years ago but they would have to start over on the proposal now. They just don't keep capex spending open for ten years until they "get around to it".

Tomorrowland's in general wouldn't have as many problems if they were all converted to "Discoveryland." Then they wouldn't have to worry so much about getting as dated. The Tokyo concept art reminds me of that theme a little bit. It looks really good. I don't see the US parks ever doing that because Space Mountain is so iconic but the lands could definitely use some upgrades. They could do different versions of the plaza from Tokyo's concept art that fits the US parks' aesthetics better.

I suppose if I had to choose between the two I would actually prefer that to the gargantuan minute and a half long coaster.
