One magical Disney getaway!

Hey everyone! I may be home physically, but mentally I’m still in Disney World. We had a GREAT long weekend (or short week, as some people have called it) For those who have read my pre-trip report, you already know the scoop. For those who haven’t, here’s a little run down:

Who:
-Me: Darolyn (or most people call me D) age 28. Disney enthusiast to the max.

-Sister: Ashley, age 26. Loves Disney as well but not quite to the same obsessive level as I.

-Mama: Terryn, age 29... Again! I thank her for bringing me to WDW at the tender age of 11 months and getting me hooked. I also thank her for buying our timeshare in Kissimmee so we can enjoy a vacation with Mickey and friends every year J

We’re all Disney fanatics!! J

Here’s me and my sister (and friend) in 2006

And here we are in 2007

And at Busch Gardens in 2009 (Yes, sometimes we cheat on Disney… sorry!)

And May of 2011

We visited Disney World together this past May and had a great time. We had originally scheduled our next WDW vacation to be fall of next year, for a week, in our timeshare at Vistana. Well, plans changed. None of us wanted to wait a year and a half so a couple schedule changes, a few number crunches and some reservations had us flying into Orlando on Thursday night November 10 and returning home Tuesday night November 15. Yup, a full year ahead of time. Since we wouldn’t be using the timeshare, we decided to stay on Disney property. Much easier doing that than renting a car and staying off-site (though in the long run, that might have ben cheaper!) We’d stayed at the All Stars a couple times but this time we decided we wanted to go big… deluxe resort big. So we booked a courtyard view room at the Wilderness Lodge for 4 nights and 1 night at the All Star Movies (since our flight wasn’t scheduled to arrive into Orlando til midnight, we couldn’t fathom the idea of spending the $300+ nightly rate when we were arriving so late.)

This trip was a trip of many firsts for us: Our first deluxe resort. Our first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We added 3 new restaurants to our itinerary and also it would be my sisters first time visiting WDW during the holiday season (my mother and I both visited Thanksgiving week back in 2001 and again last November) Also, our first time experiencing the Magical Express and our first time NOT having a rental car and relying completely on Disney transportation.

Now, onto the good stuff…. Enjoy!!

I'm really enjoying your trip report! I'm glad to hear that you liked Via Napoli. What, no pictures of David? Now I'll pay special attention to the wait staff when we eat there in January!

So glad you finally got to try Via Napoli! We love the pizza there! Yay for the Wilderness Lodge too! So far that is my favorite place to stay. Of course it is the only deluxe that I have stayed at since going without my family. Still my favorite! :sohappy: I just love that hallway leading from Roaring Forks back to the lobby. Don't know why, just love it!

Thanks! I know, total fail on my part on not getting a picture of David. There were like 3 other very attractive waiters too so everywhere you looked there was eye candy! :)

The pizza definitely gets 2 thumbs up from all 3 of us!

WL is just gorgeous! I like it because everything is centralized in one building rather than different buildings like the value and moderates. We booked it again for 2 nights in the spring. The boat ride to the MK was great. Nice and relaxing.

Thanks for reading!

Really enjoying the trip report so far! I just got a Canon T3i and completely recommend it. I wouldn't say I know how to use it at all and it already takes great pictures.

Yeah, I'm debating between the T3i and the T3.. not that I know what the difference is between the two... I'm leaning more towards the T3, solely for the fact I'm broke and that one is cheaper!!! lol

Thank you!!

The bellini was delicious!! I'd never had one before. It's similar to a mimosa. YUMMY!!

Ok so after reading your post about Via Napoli, I have cancelled my Boma reservations and rescheduled for Via Napoli!!! yay...my husband is always complaining that there are not enough pizza joints in the "states" with wood burning ovens. He is from Uruguay and apparently wood ovens are a big thing there since they have a huge Italian cultural influence. Sooo, I think we will be happy :) Although, this is the 2nd time I've cancelled at Boma, but DH is super picky when it comes to veggies so I don't think he would like it there anyways. Amywho....thanks for the info and looking forward to more trip reporting. -A

Tebow is so awesome! I'm a huge Florida Gators fan (as if you couldn't tell by my Florida Gators shirt lol) I'm super pumped he's doing well so far in the NFL!

Christmas time is BEAUTIFUL! They do such a good job with the decorating :)

me too! I was soo upset when everyone was saying hes not an NFL quarterback, proved them wrong!

unfortunately I'm a Rutgers fan, haha, oh and I died a little inside with your Yankee fan comment- I'm a born and raised Yankee fan! haha

I need to go for Christmas, favorite holiday and favorite place!

oh and I just got the Canon T3, can't open until Christmas though

I always wanted to stay in the Contemporary and I'm a Devils fan [:

haha, sorry bout the Yankees comment but I'm a hardcore Red Sox fan! Although after their antics this year I'm not too pleased with them...

You'll have to let me know how you like your T3. I want to get one before my next trip which is at the end of April. I want some time to play around with it before I go though.

The Devils have one of my favorite players.. Zach Parise. :)

I've never been to Boma before but a lot of people really like it. I'm a pretty picky eater, so is my sister, so Boma would be a little risky for us. Although, we do plan to try Sanaa in the spring. However, the pizza at VN really is delicious!! And how can you go wrong with pizza?! :slurp:

Great report so far! That pizza looks so yummy!!

You had a great view at Wilderness Lodge. I can't believe they made you wait outside your room in wet bathing suits!! That is a crazy story!
