Is this really a thing or is it April 1ST? Cabanas in the parks.

I'm having a problem understanding what advantage it would be for anyone. A small building (at this point especially) being a tent in100 degree heat. What is the purpose? You're not even changing into a swimsuit. I need more information on what the function is and why it would be worth a crapload of money. Color me confused!

This is my take too. I'm someone who sometimes will spend stupid money on an upcharge in a theme park, and have been known to get water park cabanas in the past, because it guarantees shade and there's water all over the place if you get too hot. But, I'm really struggling to see why I'd want one of these at any price point. Maybe I just don't get it, and there is someone out there for whom this does make sense.

Thoroughly disgusting. Not sure if I'm ever going back at this point.
Think about it from a bottom-line standpoint...
Even if it cost nothing to set these monstrosities up, they bring-in an equivalent to say 7 one-day passes.
So if 7 guests are convinced not to come to the park because of one of these monstrosities, they have no value.
Bottom line is that it is a really stupid idea, even if some folks are willing to pay for them.

Another fantastic way to divide the us v. them mindset and to further separate people from their money. If that price point is accurate that is not only embarrassing but it's ballsy and shows where the company's interests solely lie: profit above all.

I hope not a single one gets rented but who am I kidding, someone will think this is a great idea and will book it.

Disney might as well offer incentive to buy the cabanas by removing the last of the chairs and benches. Give the people absolutely no where to rest for five minutes so they see this as a "luxury".
I may be idealistic, but I think the Poly Bungalows are an epic fail ( last time I checked) So I am hoping these crappy tents also fail. I just don't understand how Disney thinks they can draw wealthy people into a park by offering Cabanas. Regardless of what they try, WDW is not an "exclusive" experience.

Hey, maybe this is thereason they have removed the benches from Epcot. Forces people to purchase place to sit!

Tacky, yes. In poor taste, yes. Cash grab, meh. If they have research that indicates its something guests want, and would pay for, then I dont have a problem with what they charge for it.

But if they look tacky and in poor taste then who will want to pay $650 for them? They may absolutuely have market research showing an interest based on experiences running cabanas at Castaway Cay and the water parks, but if the end result is a offering that looks like a RunDisney pop-up water bottle station than they are doomed to fail. This looks like someone was in a rush to get these started before the holiday season, which runs the risk of alienating the target audience and putting off the average guest.

If they want to take this approach, than they need more permanent looking structures, and services that match the price point.

EDIT: An alternative would be to start with a lower price point for the test, building interesting while making adjustments, and then charging more when the permanent solution is ready. This may be what Disney is doing now, but I would still suggest not going with $650 as a base rate.

Yes
These are from a private event involving the food and beverage team! Not cabanas. Don't expect them to stay
