Who cares if it "technologically" surpasses anything at Disney? There are Six Flags attractions that use more advanced technology than Disney. That doesn't make them better.
I was far more impressed with the interior walk through of Hogwarts than I was with the ride itself.

Kingda Ka, or whatever that crazy thing in New Jersey is. Ride is over in 20 seconds, but it technically surpasses Disney coasters. I'll take Thunder Mountain any day.
Getting OT. Yes, FJ may be the most advanced technical ride ever. But that doesn't mean it's the best ride ever. Avatar was the most technologically advanced movie ever made. Are you saying that it's the best movie ever?

ok - well you just proved my point. that's your opinion...technically it is this best...and in my opinion far surpasses anything currently at WDW.
i wonder what your thoughts would be if this attraction were located inside WDW. hmmm...

I'm not a pixie dust snorter. I've been to Universal several times, stay on property when I go there, and absolutely love it. This has nothing to do with WDW VS. Universal. It has to do with not thinking the ride was all that great.
"Technologically" speaking (better?) it may surpass anything at Disney. Again, "technologically" speaking, Avatar surpasses any movie ever made. Does that make it the best?

Butterbeer. And pumpkin juice. And a few fun rides, but Disney has equally fun rides of their own sort.
Really? What park have you seen? Our trip in Dec to IoA showed the opposite. Trash all over the place, peeling paint, stuff that definitely needed refurb. Way to many employees jumping out in front of you trying to get you to buy this or do that.
I will admit that WWoHP is incredibly well themed, and that Disney got a solid reminder that they need to step up their game of late. But outside of that? Meh. Forbidden Journey was a solid ride, not quite up to all the hype. Some of the tech shows real promise, but I think that it still has a bit of tweaking left. Spiderman is still fun, but is really showing its age.
I easily admit that WDW isn't what it could be, and what it should be. But Universal has always seemed to have problems keeping the quality of their attractions up, in both of their parks.

Universal has better thrill rides. Plain and simple. Disney tries, but just can't compete with Universal in terms of making the most advanced thrilling attractions out there.
Universal also has a much better nightlife at Citywalk because it has a lot of variety, unlike DTD which is a lot bigger, but contains a lot of the same stuff.
Disney beats Universal with quantity and family appeal as well as Cast Members over Team Members any day. It's pretty much a deadlock for theming because both are quite good at it.
Disney wins overall.

First part, I agree with. For thrills, Universal wins hands down.
Second part, I don't agree with. I don't think Disney is "trying" to out-thrill Universal. If they really wanted to, obviously, they could. But that's not what Disney is all about.

How can anyone's opinion be fact? It's just that - An opinion. I never denied that FJ was the most technological ride in Orlando. I simply refuted your statement that "nothing in Disney comes close" to it. This thread is what Universal does better than Disney. It's no "fact" that FJ is better than anything at Disney.
Technologically, Tron:Legacy was far superior to True Grit. I dare say, the majority of people would say True Grit was the superior movie.

Boy has this thread struck a cord. We have been going to Disney 25 years now.Everything in our house is disney, BUT we enjoy universal too because THEY ARE DIFFERENT!!!! We always try to squeeze in Universal when we go to Disney. A few days as opposed to like 10 at Disney. Competition is good!

LOL - What's the difference? Rides, movies, music, books, TV shows? They all have awards given to them. Doesn't make one "better" than another. It might mean one has better special effects, better acting, better screenplay, better lyrics - Whatever. The People's Choice Awards winner for best movie was "Eclipse". Would you consider that the best movie of the year?
Some people swear by Soarin', and think it's the most amazing ride at Disney. I find it boring as heck. The people that love it aren't right, and neither am I. What people think is best doesn't need to have anything to do with technology, speed, heights, G-Forces, etc.

X2 at Magic Mountain is an unbelievable Roller Coaster, but it has only lightly themed.
As for Universal Studios, the have succeeded in reaching the teenage/young adult male demographic better than Disney has. They have built a better roster of thrill rides. However, the parks do not cater to families as much.
I would say that Harry Potter and Spiderman are the two best attraction in Central Florida.
Also, severely underrated is Disaster! - I think it's very well done, and uses some of the same technology used in the Harry Potter queue.
